Yes! Finally! I’m not the only one who deletes the commas and reminds their assistant to stop adding them all the time.

2, but I would omit both commas.

Options 1 and 2 both look gross to me. This is the correct response

I guess I’m the contrarian. We use 1 because the partner prefers commas and I won’t do 2 unless I can remove the commas.

Hey folks. 3 YOE, working in tech at a great company, and making 135K TC in Austin.

Have an admit at Columbia and received 30K in aid each year, so I anticipate paying 110K in tuition. With cost of living in upper Manhattan, estimating an additional 35K each year, so 180K total cost.

I want to stay in tech post MBA, but explore faang companies and product roles. Is this worth the cost? I figure I could make a jump in comp at least?

I think I'm realizing the reason why I hate my job is simply because I do not love law in general. I've jumped around, changed practice areas to an area I "love" at a very chill firm and still find it so hard to want to go to work. I used to be on the creative writing/author track. To me, it's so hard to find creativity with legal writing. I try to get some side projects on the side to satisfy my creativity need, but it's not cutting it. Anyone else feel this way?

Writing sample question. I drafted a really complex dispositive motion that was granted. It was obviously revised by the partners on the case but can I still use it as a sample?

Obviously I would redact or change client/identifying information. It was publicly filed and is available on the public docket. I am not one of the attorneys of record.

Curious what people have done in the past. I'm interested in lateral positions so can't exactly ask the partners I work with.

I am conducting settlement negotiations by phone with opposing counsel (Plaintiff) tomorrow, for the first time. OC so far has been cordial and reasonable. I do employment law, if that makes a difference. Other than making it clear that their claims are weak and should settle for our offer (and also we don't have a trial date yet so it could be at least a year before we could even get to trial), what other tips do you all have?

I’ve been extremely busy. Because of this, I have less patience for the constant follow up required for me to get things out the door (I’m talking about weeks of unanswered e-mails and phone calls). I have been finding it difficult to raise the issue because everyone seems appreciative and many partners (including the ones who are causing the unnecessary stress) go out of their way to tell me what a fantastic job I’m doing.
