Positive pregnancy test & entering second year as senior. Planned for baby, but still anxious. Feel like most auditor moms I know had baby at manager or above. Tips for becoming a mom at my level?

Congrats!!! Just enjoy it and don't stress 😀

1) take as much maternity leave as you can. Even just a couple more weeks can make a big difference. 2) let / ask your partner to do as much as possible. 3) get a good breast pump. Or lots of formula coupons. Or both. 4) one day at a time. Remember, no matter how bad it seems, the sun will rise tomorrow. And in the meantime- 5) don't worry today about things that won't happen until tomorrow.

Think about single moms who have to work two jobs, you'll be just fine!

Thanks guys 😄 we're excited. I'm at a mid-sized firm and there seems to be fairly good balance, but just thinking of having to manage my jobs and staff and also get home to take care of our little one is crazy to think about. Big adjustment!

Family > work, I think people get caught up in the day to day BS and forget this simple truth. Like Pwc1 said, enjoy it. I have no tips (I'm a guy) but congrats and don't take your job too seriously, I mean, it's just auditing, you are about to start a family!

Family is far more important. My wife was 29 with our first and I wish we started earlier.

If you're at PwC they have an awesome portal called Prepared Parent, I'm sure all the big 4 have something similar though. It gives you guidance on types of leave, when to contact the HR Leave Center, etc. plus guidance on a lot of other general pregnancy stuff. Good luck!

It's hard, but you adjust. I had my first as an associate and second as a senior. It definitely takes juggling and a supportive husband, and sometimes you will feel like you're dropping the ball everywhere, but the little people are worth it :)

Awesome! This is a special time in life. Enjoy it. Work will still be there tomorrow.

Congratulations! That's so exciting! I'm sure you feel overwhelmed, that's natural, but this is the best thing to ever happen to you. I wish you the best 😊

I did it at the same level. But as already mentioned, enjoy it. It's an adjustment, but you'll be fine. Congrats!! ☺️

Should've planned it better so you could have the baby during busy season and take leave and not have to work haha - but congrats! 😜

Maybe you could take a break from work for a year

I think it depends on the office. I had a baby as a second year staff. I came back to no work and had to beg for work from other offices

KPMG partners, could you tell me what the implications are for taking 4 months maternity leave as a partner? I should be up for partner promotion next year and might be having a child as a partner. I'm guessing if you meet your targets, it doesn't really matter how much maternity leave you take as a partner but wanted to hear your thoughts on how parental leave (especially 4 months) affected your compensation, client relationships, teams, etc.

Hi all! I want to know you opinion! On March 1st I started a new job. It's really a great oportunity for my career. Just 2 weeks later I realized that I was pregnant and I don't know how to say it in the company. I'm afraid if they fire me. I haven't said nothing already. What do you think?

Am I crazy? Started talking about having kids and my response was I don't want to have kids until I have x amount of saved for a down payment...here's my logic if we don't have kids we can can save about 40k a year. If we do have kids we can probably save 15-20k a year. If we wait 3 years (live in HCOL) we won't have to worry. Wife thinks I'm crazy...

Ever reflect on the exact time in your life you knew you did not want kids, and the triggering event or circumstance? In my case I just never had a maternal urge at all.

I had a friend in my building help me out with childcare and this person charged me something very unreasonable especially when she was watching her own kid at the same time . I’m not going to say anything since it’s a temporary situation but I do think this will ruin our friendship. So annoyed and to top it off , she told me she gave me a discount . We didn’t talk about a rate up front but I assumed that since she’s my friend, I wouldn’t get taken advantage of.

Slight vent: I had saved up a bunch of PTO to travel a ton this year (long-term project) which obviously got kicked to the dust and I have a bunch expiring this year because of that. Was looking forward to next year (including a family trip that’s been on the calendar for 2 years), but 3 people just left the team, only 1 will be replaced, and 3 more announced parental leave in spring. I have go lives through February and feel like I’m sprinting a marathon and will never get a break now.

Deciding between two nannies for my 6 month old. Both are sweet good people who I think could fit into the family. Both have accepted the $18/hour rate, plus paid holidays and two weeks vacation. One is more timid, asks a lot of questions, takes copious notes on baby's naps, schedules, etc and seems to need a bit more hand holding. She also doesn't talk to my baby as much. The other seems more "competent", gets it, and can run with things without my having to hold her hand. Con't...

My 9 year-old sister is turning 10 this weekend. We lost our mom in Feb, and so far she’s doing well. My bf points out that she seems to be coping a lot better than he’d think and wonders if we should be concerned that she’s not feeling more depressed or calling for my mom. I think I prefer to see her happy as a normal kid bc (contd)

An orthodox father can really make your life a living hell
You will lose all self confidence, you will question your existence, i spent 25 yrs of my life trying to impress my father but in vain.
Missed all opportunities, lost friends, always scared to do new things because i was pulled back. I repent why i even listened to him
Now I see no point living my life anymore
