Posted in a different bowl but no one from tax responded. How long did it take you and what level did you reach milestone base salaries ($100k, $150k, $200k)?

Similar experience, just we had supervisor level, but pay scales are the same as yours

High COL city. Started 1.5 years ago at 80k (jd). 99k raise my first year to JD. Just switched firms after being a s1 for 5 months and now at 120k

40k raise in 1.5 year (plus 20k in bonuses during that time)

Numbers lie in this situation. Better questions are to 2x your starting salary, 3x your starting salary, etc. Took me about 6 years to double

like

5 years to double including a switch to industry at the end of year 4. I however was promoted after moving to industry so I went from making about 90% of double in year 4 to about 120% a few months into year 5.

Depending on region, some people have said manager gets to about 100k. So 5 or so years?

like

Hit 100k as base over 10yrs ago. Hit 140k-150k with bonus years ago too. Been lagging since....finally over 140k base last year. Was at 130k base 5years ago but switched jobs.

like

If it helps, I was not always in B4. Bounced around.

100k in four years, 130k in eight, I’m forecasting 150 at 10 years.

Echo re: SM positions. JD/LLM where salary is to some degree scaled against Big Law can pay higher....but to get that requires 3 or 4 years of more education learning stuff that will not be used and lost wages (I should know). That all said... am 175k as experienced manager in Midwest. Plus side?? Way fewer jerks and more flexibility at Big 4.

Manger - 6 years exp, base 150

This answer would be different in New York City or Southern Cali

HA

Hit ~$115k after 1.5 years by moving to another Big 4 as a Senior. Started at $60k

Very specialized practice though

I don’t have an LLM / JD

5 years to the day: 55->120 base.

I am a practice manager and I work with two older doctors who either complain about everything from notes to schedules etc. and even with the amount of time and effort I’ve put into to address those concerns I.e. setting admin time, utilizing PA’s and NP’s managing schedules within the office- even had to sit next to a doctor to make sure he’s completing his notes during 30min admin time- they still manage to complain! It’s driving me insane. What should I do?

Moving from big 4 firm to big 4 firm. Waiting for my salary and sign on bonus. Do you think it makes sense to ask for the sign on be applied to my salary? Like if offered 75k with 5k sign on then should I just ask for 80k no sign on. I don’t want to loose my bonus if I have stay a year or two. I also know there is a lot of tax coming out of bonuses. Either way it pretty much nets the same tax wise.

Is it me or does the newer generation value more intangible things that aren’t easily measured like work-life balance, fulfillment and purpose in work. Which makes it difficult for firms because that’s not something that is easily measured. Also, this is why there is “value” in crypto, NFTs and the metaverse. It’s a clash of the generations that value tangible things like money, houses, cars and one that values time, experiences, personal online image. Thoughts?
