My boyfriends birthday is coming up. Heโ€™s turning 28, but heโ€™s new to the city we live in and doesnโ€™t have many friends. Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since youโ€™re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?

I have an approved I-140 and am now moving cities with the same employer (PwC). I was under the assumption that only a new PERM needs to be filed. Do we also need another I-140? PwC makes us pay $3500 for I-140 premium processing does this mean that fees needs to be repaid?

How would you approach moving back into industry after a long career break?

A successful senior software engineering career (15 years+), I took a significant amount of time out due to burnout and caring responsibilities.

Seven years on, my situation has improved, and the industry has progressed. Remote first companies are numerous, and Iโ€™m keen to move back into software development.

I would love to hear a recruiter's perspective on this situation.

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

3 years ago I asked for a compensation review/raise, went through what felt like a ridiculous 8 MONTH long process of defending why it was warranted, only to be told no. 3 months ago I asked again and it has gone nowhere. I should add that salary bands are kept secret and I have no clue what the range for my position is. There are a decent amount of benefits in my position, the biggest being WLB, which is what has kept me here for so long. But Iโ€™m getting frustrated. What would you do?

I've been working at a company for just over a year now and have discovered my pay is way below what I should be on - I'm a senior and my male equivalent is on double what I'm on.
Recently having a pay review my boss tells me it was a mistake that I've got senior on my job contract and it should've been mid consultant, however my boss now considers me a senior and I can get a pay rise at the end of the year. What would you do? Do I wait till the end of the year for a pay review?

Is it possible to ask for too high of a salary during an interview?

I had an interview end early because they couldn't match my salary ask despite me being a "perfect candidate" (their words). The range was the same/lower than what I currently make, and their role was for a more senior position. I gave a highball range but I figured there would be some negotiating. Maybe that company just isn't the right fit for me, but I'm just thrown off by how quickly the call ended after that.

If you wanting a mix of salary increase and work / life benefit increase, what are some things you negotiate for that you now have in your job? Additional pto? Flex time? Other special arrangements? Has any one negotiated periods of time off ( around a month) based on certain objectives met? Was thinking perhaps negotiating unpaid leave for pursuing other interests / family time. Job is in medical IT, Midwest, 10 years. Thank you for looking and appreciate any comments.

What is the best approach to negotiate salary on an offer? Is it bad form to ask via email if the offer was sent by email? Or is that the norm?

Iโ€™ve been offered a position that Iโ€™m really excited about. Their initial offer was 10K more than the top of the salary range they gave me for the position when I asked during the interview process and at the top end of the salary requirements I set for myself. My partner thinks I should still negotiate for more even though Iโ€™m happy with the offer. Am I an idiot if I donโ€™t negotiate in this case? Realistically, I donโ€™t think Iโ€™d get much more than that, but should I negotiate out of principle?

Iโ€™m about to accept a position at an information services company for a marketing coordinator position. They are offering 62k out of a 55k-65k range that I was quoted, and that aligns with my research. Itโ€™s much more than what Iโ€™m making now, but I thought it would be smart to run this by you all before signing the dotted line. This would be my first time as a marketing coordinatorโ€”Iโ€™m bringing in 5+ years from an adjacent industry to the table, if that gives perspective. WDYT? Thank you!

Currently going through some negations on an internal role. Iโ€™m currently at 88k and they offered me 100k for a position that requires a lot more work.
