Power Bi or Tableau?

My company has Microsoft pro license which means pbix is readily available as a tool however Tableau would require a requesr for license. Is it worth it to learn it?

As a consultant, I've always found PBI more than sufficient.

I had to adapt due to client switching products from Tableau to Power BI and as you continue to work with it there are some very cool features included, but you may have to invest some time to figure out its kinks

like

Learning Power BI is easy, but for enterprise viz solutions, the free version is not sufficient. I’ve gone through multiple projects that were headache after headache because client didn’t want to shell out $60k for a premium node. For lightweight use, definitely fine, but don’t embark on a big project.

Being competent in both market leading tools will be valuable now and into the future. As salesforce bought tableau, in the CRM space tableau will pick up again.

like

Very much so. It's also powerful enough for you to do your own analysis at home.

Tableau, especially when you need more than 10,000 points. Plus there's a whole community and wealth of resources out there.

That being said, if you know one tool you can pretty easily pick up another.

Tableau is worth it in the long run.

1. Offer to go to Deloitte as SM $200k+
2. Admitted to NYU and Columbia full time Bschool programs - no scholarship at either
3. Admitted to Darden w more than half scholarship
4. Offer to go to Two FANGS as a program manager, 150k base, 75k annual equity (non technical role)

I don’t love what I do but seems I could make partner in 3-5 years at D. Having tough time turning down Columbia Bschool or FANG.

So I started at a new role at a known retailer about 2 months ago. I am their first hire in this role, as I have more than 5 years of relevant experience leading initiatives and optimizing process across departments. While I understand it takes time to adjust to the culture, its seems like all I have witnessed is resistance to change. I already feel myself not wanting to be here long, but I'm putting pressure on myself to not be a quitter. Would you stick it out or start looking?

Out of curiosity, how many of you are applying to b-school or got your MBA to pivot to VC? Were you successful and how did you know and / or sell a case to ad comms that you wanted to go into VC?

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

Also is it too soon to leave since I’m only a first year, or can I leave right after the busy season? Not sure what to do but don’t want to spend more time at a job I don’t love.

Been working in sales for a little over two years now. Wanting to get out, simply because I only got in to establish some financial freedom and save up for my wedding. My main issue was that since I’ve mainly only been working in sales (outside of some regular customer service experience), it seems to me like I don’t have a lot of the hard skills or degrees that others do. Any suggestions to apply for or advice? I’m located in Charlotte, NC but open to remote as well.
