PPEDs, Senior Managers and Managers are not respecting the firms holiday closing. Unacceptable.

Well the closing has not started yet so client demands are priority at least until 5pm today

like

We are allowing you to post on FB in the middle of the day! Is that not good enough?!? You want more OP?

Seriously OP - I do hope you have a truly relaxing and restful break. Our people across all service lines have been busting their butts this year. So a break is needed and well deserved. Also wishing you health, happiness and continued success in 2019

likefunny

OP: do you really think that PPED/mgrs want to make people work during this period just for the sake of working? If you do, I don’t see any hope in you. In the end, we serve our clients and THEIR demands/requests and I would think that you would realized by now. Client work will always take priority as we are in the professional service industry. Trust me, those asking you to work feel worse than you do actually doing the work. I, and most people I know, always feel very bad when I ask someone to work late or the weekend to the point I only ask someone to work late when I cannot do the work myself. There were so many occasions that I got a last minute request from a client and did the work myself because I did not want the staff to work late or the weekend. So think about it.

like

OP is it for client purposes or just internal meeting

Our PPEDs are not allowing work during the closure. You have to prove that you have client needs if you want to bill time.

After 3 years of dealing with the worst firm I've ever had the displeasure of working for, I finally landed my dream gig at a small specialty firm. The people at the new firm are all SMEs featured in and contributors to the most notable business publications in the world, less than 100 employees, better benefits, unlimimted PTO, doubled my pay and landed a senior role.

Keep looking for what you want and deserve. I'm happy to be forging a better path away from what I've had to endure.

I need to make a decision by tomorrow:
Current base salary: $55k
Current bonus: 10.5% (~$5k)
Vacation: 2 weeks
*been with company for 4 years. Started as a product data analyst out of school.

New offer base salary: $90k
Bonus: 12% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

Counter offer: $80k
Bonus: 14% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

The new offer would require significantly more travel. I have a young family and value time at home. My heart is telling my to take the counter offer from my company.

I have been at my company for a little less than 4 years now. I’ve had the third highest sales last year out of a team of 50 and consistently the highest outbound calls per week. They told me I can start WFH once I hit $1mil in profit, but then rescinded right before I hit the goal. They have also denied simpler request like time off, when I know they have approved this before for others. I feel super unappreciated, but the money is great. I’m not sure if I should look elsewhere and start over?

Took my first vacation (1 week) in over a year to visit family. Was bombarded by emails from one partner asking me to complete non-time sensitive motions, which he hasn’t even bothered to review. This is my third firm in three years (first I left as I was severely underpaid, second I left for a 100k increase in salary), but this lack of respect for my boundaries has made me want to move again once I’ve completed 18 mos. Bad? They don’t do this to the other associates (all male).

How often do you take proper vacation? And for how long? Do you plan it out throughout the year? Do you always include kids?

Hey, would really like some advice here.

Recently graduated and am looking for full time roles. I understand I'm a new grad and all, but is this a low-ball offer?

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?

Do you record your unbillable time? I have had conflicting responses. I have been told it's not good for efficiency calculations but others have told me if your still doing work let people know. I have been told not to bill for this but if I didn't have to spend time to do such things my billable hours would be higher

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??
