Also I think we are all underestimating the value of in person contact. Over time, we will want that back.

I agree here. No amount of technology can replace in person contact for things like white boarding / sharing ideas and being to easily grab someone down the hall to join in for a few minutes to contribute. With that being said, wfh should be an option and allowed and part of the new norm. Possibly allowing 2-3 days as wfh or some other alternatives.

Yea as someone who was allowed to WFH whenever, I always made it a point to go in the office 2-3 days out of the week. In person contact and interaction is extremely important

I wish. But the corruption always wins. As long as businesses get bailed out, big businesses that deserved to fail will stay alive and keep their old ways. Who do you think is distributing these loans? It's the same banks running NYC. They absolutely aren't doing this for free. They take a spread on the interest, and government takes on the risk. Add on to that increased regulation that will come out of this, as "punishment" for failing / getting bailed out, and you'll see a renewed growth in boring AF regulatory compliance and back-office work.

Hey mummas, I'm struggling with how I feel about my team at work. None of them, including my manager, have children and they just don't get it. I'm pregnant with my third and my manager has never once asked me how I'm doing, only ever refers to it in terms of me 'leaving' for maternity leave so he'll be a resource down. Never once asked how I'm coping with juggling wfh & full time caring for my children through covid, and icing on the cake my baby just recently.. (continued in comment)

Confession - I don't want to go back to office. I'm happy working from home and find no solid reason in stepping back. I hope the flexi work culture allows permanent WFH - I don't have a "good enough" reason, but I don't want to go (isn't this good enough?) It's been 1.5 years now, too comfortable to step out from my PJs to jeans.

*Post discusses infant loss* My daughter died soon after her birth earlier this summer. I took 2.5 months off and am back at work now. I’m doing ok being at work because we’re WFH. I can take breaks, I can wear fuzzy clothes, I can cry when I get a firm birth announcement without anyone seeing. We’re supposed to start back at the office soon and I don’t know how to manage that. My grief can be triggered in a million different ways. Any advice from your experiences? (also I am in counseling)

Has anyone submitted grad school applications while working in tech sales? Or have any managers here managed employees who’ve gone through this process? I know in roles like finance and consulting, grad or business school is part of the next step in employees’ careers so employers are supportive. I’m not sure it’s the same for tech roles. Honest opinion—will my desire to go to grad school disincentivize my employer to invest in me?
