Yea because the crypto and nft bros aren’t in the game anymore and there’s general economic fears so people aren’t spending on excess. Love to see prices coming down.

It’s a much larger part of the ecosystem than I think you’re giving it credit for. The average person likely does not care much about watches, and with the increase in “influencer” types and new money coming in yeah I would logically attribute a large chunk of the price hike to that demographic now having cash.
Yeah some Rolex models had fetched crazy gray market pricing before hand, but a few years back I passed on a submariner for $7,200 with full box & papers. The fact that the same model hit almost $20k, and you have datejusts that are $15-$20k are a direct result of them. It’s about the only new crowd I have seen throughout all of this.
Watches that had no reason to be that expensive will come down in price but I still think steel Rolexes will be hard to get for at least another year or two, unfortunately the ads know how to play games and they probably just won’t put them in the cases
ADs definitely know how to play the games. One watch YouTuber who used to work for an AD said that they have most models in their safes and have most, not all of the pieces you want and have been hording. If this is true gosh I'm going to be peeved.

I've been watching the VC Overseas asking price drop from sellers like EWC from $66k to $35k since the start of the year!
I've been using the Daytona SS + the Sub as a barometer. Watching them fall on Watch Charts gives me joy. So many inflated prices.
It’s honestly very fascinating. I think as inflation eats into the cost of essentials you’re going to see less cash left over for discretionary spending like high end watches. The result will be lower demand and lower prices.
