Helping raise awareness: If a colleague is going out on maternity leave, it’s lovely to acknowledge. Pro tip- saying “I everything goes well” is more appropriate than wishing them “A good break.”

Yeah, I got back from medical leave and everyone thought that I went on some soul searching sabbatical when I was really fighting for my life. I felt like a party pooper being like...yeah, no, it was medical....

"Sensitive much" is not something you could say in person in any tone and be anything other than dismissive, therefore it's rude when written.

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

I am trying to move to being a Data Scientist for tech companies. Currently working as a Analytics Manager on the ad agency side and don't directly manage anyone at the moment. My analytics team is very small, just me and the director.

How do you answer questions when hiring manager asks if I currently manage people. I have helped train people in the past.

SO captured my big baby being extra sad that I was locked in my office and working late tonight ❤️

Rant: I finally got a baby registry started and sent the link to family... and immediately was told all the things I need on there that I don't have (including things I'm opting to just NOT GET, like an electric pump - why is my nursing preference up for debate????). How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years I’d expect. Thoughts?

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.

Wealth management company recommendations?

Currently have the FRM title.
I failed CFA level 3 once.

I'm hoping to eventually do CAIA, but only after I'm done with CFA. I'm also hoping to do non-financial certifications, like Certified analytics professional (CAP), and learn about web development.

While I may have the title of manager, I am still an individual contributor. The type of work I do involves quantitative analysis/data analysis/science.

Any suggestions as to what I should start with?

My wife and I are opposite in terms of what we like, I enjoy outdoors activities, whereas she enjoys shopping 😅. We’re hoping to find a place that has both and I don’t mind driving a bit for work.
