Pro tip: if you ate shit all day when you were supposed to be making edits, change the time zone on your computer and make some edits. It will time stamp them with the time on the computer clock and you can make it look like you were working on it all day.

How do y’all deal with people at work who are stuck on stupid? Like they have no idea what they’re talking about and they REFUSE to learn. It’s like they have a god complex or something even with proof, maybe bc of their tenure at the company? Even if there’s valid data backing up that they’re wrong. Maybe it’s bc I’m a type 8 enneagram, but it frustrates the hell out of me!
So any advice would be lovely :)

I’m a new attorney working in house for a local government and was just on a conference call with multiple departments. I was asked for my legal opinion, proceeded to give it and was interrupted and corrected by a non-attorney director. I said nothing at the time but of course fact checked myself. He was completely wrong. To add insult to injury, he called me by someone else’s name while he mansplained. How am I supposed to deal with this situation since he’s technically my superior?

If you're negotiating a start date with a new firm and you need to give your current firm 2 weeks and want some time to yourself before starting, but you already have a vacation planned in the early fall, is it an issue to take 2-3 weeks before starting as long as you're clear that you have a pre-planned trip?

Feeling disengaged my last few days working at this boutique firm as I leave for a large firm in a different practice area in another city. While the past couple of years here have been okay it’s dysfunctional, disorganized, and when I was new I’d get yelled at a lot. It was common to see crying in the office. Something has changed (likely because of the Great Resignation) bosses have been nice, but I’ll never forget how they were. So much work to do b4 I go and packing to move. I’m checked out.
