There are breathing exercises you can do to strength your deeper ab muscles so they bounce back more quickly after birth . (Diactis recti where your abs separate) I went to a PT for pelvic floor stuff and she taught me how to breathe to engage those muscles and I’m already a lot better at it then when I started. (I’m 37 and 26 weeks)
Would recommend looking into that. It’s less about how much weight you gain and more about what muscles you can strengthen so they snap back better later. You can lose all the baby weight you gained and still have a poof belly bc your abs didn’t come back together

Congrats! Not overeating/continuing to eat healthy is important. It's only an extra 100ish calories in the 1st trimester, extra 300 in the 2nd but I feel we are told the myth that we can just go wild🤣
If you did strength training before pregnancy, I would recommend to continue that. I'm still working with my personal trainer to do light weights and body weight exercises. Building/maintaining muscle goes a long way. Also, there are no crunches allowed as your tummy becomes visible but you can still do core exercises like bird dog.
But walking every day and prenatal yoga are great!!!
Infact first trimester many ppl cannot keep their food down. Eating normally is okay. No need to add extra calories. 2nd and third will need 300 to 400 calories more

My biggest advice (3 kids) is keeping active like you normally would (as much as possible/safe). It’s a myth that once you’re pregnant you can’t get your heart rate up or lift weights or move your body. As long as you’re feeling up to it, you should! Being a mom is physically intense! Labor is physically intense! It’s good to be strong! As you progress in your pregnancy, there are definitely modifications you need to make. Eat as healthy as you can, workout like you normally do and then you can bounce back into your normal routine more quickly. If you’re a couch potato eating pizza every day, it will be much harder to get active and start healthier habits with a newborn and sleep deprivation.
