(Advice from someone with 3. FB ate my homework on that last post) 1) Don't overthink this. 6 billion people will provide opinions on every little thing but humans have been successfully reproducing for years around lead and BPA and eclipses and everything else. When you eff something up it's not the end of the world. 2) Kids are amazingly resilient. If you and your partner love and listen to each other and pay a modicum of attention to the baby you're doing better than 50% of the population. 3) Don't forget about each other. Babies put immense stress on your relationship and totally change the dynamic. Yes, you need to focus on the little one but take time for yourself and your SO. 4) Relish the first month when they spend 15 minutes per day crapping and eating, and the rest of the day sleeping. The next 3-12 months will suck but it's all better from there. Having kids is the best thing I ever did. If you want a burner I'm more than happy to answer any question and you can do this even as a crazy consultant.

Start taking prenatal vitamins. Think through your living situation (do you have enough space? Safe? Child friendly?) Look at financials - pay down debt, etc.

EY1 is close; the folic acid issue is related to a genetic mutation (MTHFR). Do the genetic testing and understand how your body processes certain things.

Love you all. Thanks so much. Will start doing my research, but this is a great start.

If you are considering daycare, look into your options and prepare to apply when you discover you are pregnant. The wait list can be long in major cities/communities.

Read up on folic acid. I read that there may be a link to autism with excessive amounts. Obviously you need some though as there is a risk of birth defects with out it. I would start educating yourself on this type of thing (I'm not necessarily making any claims here but reading that made me think it's important to do a lot of research).

(Advice from sone

You have enough time to find a mate, still. Have you found someone with whom to conceive?

And BA1 - I've been married for 4 years, so found the mate and he's okay with it too!

Find a partner?

@op no problem. You got this. As a type A its so easy to overthink but just the fact that you're already asking makes me think you'll do great. Just don't forget your partner... I thought we'd thought of everything but I was so focused on baby we didn't realize how it would change our relationship and 7 years and 3 kids later and I still haven't fully figured it out but we're getting better every day.

Oh, and learn about something called "croup." Every kid gets it and the first time you'll think they're dying or were chain smoking in the womb but a course of antibiotics and steroids and all is well.

Probably worth a visit to the OB-GYN to discuss.

STFU and stop drinking. Too early

Went in for a scan yesterday because I was having spotting and cramping at 12 weeks. The OB saw fluid behind the baby’s neck and is referring us to see a high risk doctor immediately. NIPT was negative. I’m panicking. Have any of you been through this?

Moms specifically at Deloitte, I am 8 weeks pregnant and planning to tell the team right after July 4th weekend. I had a question on the administrative/procedural stuff - do I have to let anyone else outside or project team know? When do I have to start thinking about paper work? Who should I let know about the maternity leave?

For moms in California - can anyone explain to me how the FMLA/Paid Leave works in coordination with EY’s sixteen weeks? It seems that all the new moms take 6 months and I’m trying to figure out how that works if we’re only given 16 weeks. My husband and I are currently waiting for an adoption placement so I have no idea when I’ll need to use it, but I’m hoping it’s sometime soon :) Since I’m not actually pregnant, asking these questions feels weird, but I keep reminding myself it’s okay. TIA!

Anyone who renege and get any backlash? I signed an offer with a big 4 for full time and am still interviewing with other companies. ( Was an intern last summer and my offer got pushed out to summer cause my masters is 1.5 years and I graduate in December (In my defense the big 4 refused to let me go to another practice.) Plus pressured by parents to accept something before I graduate.

Quick scenario: If I have a consulting offer from a different Big 4 that has a start date post-10/15, so that in theory I would not have to submit a 2 weeks notice until post-10/1 (bonus payout date) but I sign the offer pre-9/30, am I obligated (looking for both legal & professional standpoint) to tell PwC because it is with a competitor? This is essentially the exact same group at the other big 4
