Product designers, has it been difficult to transition from a start-up to a more established company (doesn’t have to be big tech)? I am having trouble landing those interviews. I understand it can be resume, portfolio and whatever. BUT I am truly trying to understand how someone was able to transition to larger company. Please feel free to share your stories.

If you’re applications aren’t landing you interviews then it’s your resume. If you’re landing interviews but no offers, consider hiring a career coach to practice interview skills.

What about the resume, the experience or the way it’s written

It’s truly not what you know but rather who you know. Focus on networking.

Learn the ins and outs of a design system. All big firms have them. I recommend checking out local design meetups that are more tech focused too; you might find more leads that way.

That’s awesome. Yes, I find the meetups extremely valuable. Super glad you’ve had exposure working with a design system. Good luck!

Any advice? i’m interviewing for a lead product role at a small startup - for context I was an associate pm a few years ago, shifted to product marketing, and looking to move back. seems like they need someone to set up a lot of their best practices and refine the roadmap/ vision- any tips on how to prep or questions you’ve heard would be appreciated!

What should I be reading or researching? First gen lawyer here, always been small firm. I’m at a 2 attorney firm now and was just approached about becoming a partner. The boss wants to clean up the books so I can review them and we can discuss. Other than professional connections, I have no idea where to turn for info/insight. I’m definitely interested, but obviously this is a big decision, so I don’t think a “partner? Sure, I’m in” is appropriate.

Am a 2022 graduate and I have tech ops associate l3 level offer from amazon. How will be the growth in the company? I want to be a business analyst ? Will this role helps me to get there?

I’m a technology leader/Architect with 20 plus years of experience and have done both Integration and transformation for multiple clients undergoing M&A. Heavily into hyperscalers, presales etc. Recently trying to zero in further on the end to end M&A process catching up with executive education etc. Is there a decent place for someone like me within the deal team? If so what positions should I target? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have been offered 26 Fixed at MC. (Level 8 - Consultant D&S - mostly Analytics) Mastercard is the growth like in the firm? What on an average can I expect 3-4 years down the line! Also, if anyone can comment on learning opportunities/tech stack, that would be helpful. Thank you

I have a post-MBA offer with Accenture Strategy and I'm seeking advice on whether I should pursue this offer, or if I should continue to recruit for MBB (which may open more doors/opportunities). I previously worked 4 years at Deloitte Consulting.

Where do people from Accenture Strategy (not Accenture Management Consulting) tend to go? Is it possible to have similar opportunities as MBB firms or do you have to work harder to get MBB-type opportunities?

I’m looking for some additional tips and/or specific things to focus on in preparation for the multi-round interview process for a role at Amazon Web Services in what I assume is for one of the cloud services team. From what I’ve gathered, is the interviews are largely based on the leadership principles. However, how do I know which would be asked? which would be more related to the role/or team I’d be on? What other types of questions to prepare for leading to the 1-on-1 with the hiring manager

I’ve been approached my by company (software) that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I had an initial call with a recruiter and got turned down about 6-7 months ago. I was having a really bad day (just found out a relative had passed, more than normal work stress, ect) and just really had a tough time gathering my thoughts. I honestly should have rescheduled the call but I just didn’t really want to have to push it out and coordinate schedules again. Any chance I can get a second look? The career path aligns with my interests and my background is a great fit.

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

I was shocked and responded in that way. I have to apply for the position and after some thought I decided I didn’t want to do it. They aren’t offering an increase in base pay and giving me the responsibility of management without the title. Yesterday, I received a PIP is this retaliation?

Additional Posts in Tech

It is often seen in tech roles that employees are able to do remote work. I wonder how engaged do these workers feel with the companies they work. Are these freelance? Full time? How do you get paid? The startup I work with provides perks and benefits to remote workers in addition to pretty convenient payment solutions (crypto, our e-Wallet, banks worldwide), and therefore I’d like to get to know your thoughts on this!
