Same question except I’m in financial services. Sorry to piggyback on your post.

OP, you just need to find that role. When I saw my first PM role job req, I was finally able to agree with my spouse who'd been saying the same thing as yours. Once you find that job description, revamping your resume to speak to it is easy. Answering questions about relevant work experience in the interview is easy. Just keep adding to your PM type experience at your current job and keep a look out for your first PM opportunity.

There are two types if PMs. Consumer facing product managers and enterprise product PMs. Sounds like you might be more aligned to Enterprise. The first PM role on your resume is the hardest, but consulting experience is generally a solid feeder into PM. Focus on finding a PM role in the same industry and space you are currently in, taking a salary dip if needed, at a smaller firm for a year or two.

Health question: Does anyone else suffer from nerve pain in their butt/hips from sitting all day? My research tells me it’s piriformis pain. It means my sit bones are irritating my butt muscle, which irritates my sciatic nerve. It can be excruciating and hurt even when I stand. I bought a fancy seat cushion for my office chair, and I have a standing desk. Nothing helps. The pain has been around for about a month. Anyone else?? What did you do?
