Project leaders / engagement managers, do you find it hard to exit to tech at a higher comp? do people take a cut on their comp? want to understand if it’s okay to quote 20-30% higher while exiting especially in tech. That bump would be my target.

Yes, it seems hard. Most opportunities I'm seeing are.... 1. Very hard to access, like product management (excluding amazon non-tech). Possibly product strategy roles too. 2. Easier to access, like program management, miscellaneous s&o roles, marketing, or customer success. But these often don't pay well, especially when adjusted for cost of living. Making 200k TC as a consulting manager in a moderate COL city (Phl, Chi, Atl, Hou) vs 170-220k in SF bay, NYC or even Seattle is not very attractive. 3. Uninteresting. I have not looked into sales or professional services, since I am exiting consulting because I don't want to do sales or tech implementation. I have an ivy ug, m7 mba and 10 yoe of non-mbb consulting. Any tips?

yeah i’m pretty much in the same boat, except i’m in nyc, lol.

Coming from PwC you should quote at least 30%+ exciting to tech

did you go from b4 to google as well? i feel like it’s easier if you’re at a lower base at pwc but if you joined post mba, you have a decent base and the 30% seems high. not sure how MBB managers make the jump, considering their base is even higher

I left Deloitte and asked for a 50% bump at a tech firm. They gave it to me.

Sorry engagement manager at Deloitte was managing large scale tech implementations. I thought that’s what y’all meant.

Ask for whatever you want and be willing to negotiate. They'll tell you if it isn't reasonable

I’m entry level (2020 grad). Used to work at an awesome startup before my current job in SaaS. I’ve been ramping at this co. though so I haven’t even gotten the experience yet I want on my resume. But I talked with the startup co-founder about rejoining. I was thinking part time to start, but he says there’s a high chance of a full time job for me there. Startup is 100% remote. My job at current company is client meetings and deliverables. How difficult would it be to work both at once?
