Really just asking out of curiosity: I once heard that corp depts bring in more than lit such that corp pretty much subsidizes lit compensation. Is there any truth to that? Seems like just office gossip/griping
Nerdiest moment? When I won the state championship in "job interview" for Future Business Leaders of America
What value does an MBA bring both to a candidate who wants to do consulting post-MBA, as well as to a firm who hires that candidate?
Big law or boutique? Class of 2019 ending a District Court clerkship, and weighing these two options. Boutique is “market” pay (sub-market bonuses) with a 1950 BH req in a practice area I love. I’d only do Big Law for the “name recognition” given I’m still early in my career. Thoughts?
Anyone have tips for paying off $136k of student loans (undergrad and mba)? I’m trying to make large payments but now I have no savings or 401k. I’m 25 and just stressed as hell about this :(
How do you negotiate offers for a new external role after you’ve received the job offer? For example, they’re offering the lower range. How do I raise that? Thanks
The hysteria I’m seeing in this bowl and others about layoffs, hiring freezes, and a possible recession is getting ridiculous. 5 G’s please.
Has anyone worked at, or knows someone who works at, Uber corporate? Interviewing for a position there, and would love some input. Thanks fam!
I feel like I’m wasting my early to mid twenties away by slaving away here. Working saturdays is awful. I want to be out traveling or meeting with friends and family that live out of town
Does anyone have recommendations for good mentoring programs for students? In my effort to find more mentors in the tech space, I realized it would be great to be a mentor myself and encourage/teach girls to try coding. I know how much that would have meant to me when I was younger!
Hi all, wanted to share my recent experience with Tata Consultancy tcs. Though it may be common across, but wanted to let know your opinion. Recently I have been contacted by an HR for an opportunity with Tata.
1. Collected all my employment CCTC details along with my expected CTC
2. Was asked to fill the same again in TCS portal to submit the application online. (again here I clearly mentioned my CCTC and my expected CTC)
Now, my profile hs been SHORTLISTED to apear for the Tech rounds. Cnt.
Toddler waking up at 4am, likes her dad more than me at the moment, nothings goes as planned, constant tantrum/cry out is driving me crazy. I know I should be calm and caring but I just want to cry. I’m getting frustrated so easily and taking things too personally when she is just being a toddler.. I feel like there is nothing I can do my way. Feeling ashamed of even thinking that but I do feel that way. Feel like a bad mom on a days like this :(
Left my Big 4 job a while ago and just got my pension package and not sure whether to get it lump some or monthly. Total pension right now is ~15k. I’m ~30 years from retirement. If I leave it for retirement, it’ll accrue interest at 3.8%. I’m indifferent on whether I get the cash now or later...thoughts on how to proceed?
What are some good negotiation tips/tricks that you’ve learned and/or applied in either your professional or personal life (e.g. when buying a house or a car)?
Mommies with nanny experience- really need your advice for my 6 and 4 yr old daughters! My 6 yr old has always been a sensitive and needing a lot of love and affection kind of girl. We started with a new nanny 3 weeks ago and I feel like the kids and she haven’t completed warmed up to her. Today my older one said “I miss our old nanny...she would smile at me more”. I can see that. So how do i broach this topic with the new nanny? Also, I have never had experience with nanny till a few months ago
