What a time to be on the bench
Boomerangs: how did you approach the topic? Looking for advice. Did you talk to your former project Ps and MDs, and then had them refer you?
Received an offer from McKinsey & Company and am super stoked to join, but I’m getting quite criticized in my personal life for the decision mostly because of the public image of the firm. I get where they’re coming from, but figured most of the consulting industry was like this, not just McKinsey, and strategy work is what really interests me. Any tips on how to deal with it?
I am on the bench. If I give my 2 weeks notice will I get paid even tho I am not on anything and don’t have to wrap up any work?
What do you guys do when you're on "the bench"?
If putting in your notice while on PTO/bench, would you propose that the last day be the last date of your PTO (given it’s more than 2 weeks away)? Or sooner / 2 weeks from now?
How often do you find yourself fighting department red tape? "I've got an idea the client and I want to test, let's try this thing." "We don't do that." "Explain that. What do you mean you don't do the thing the client and I want to test?" "Department protocol is to do this other useless thing." I understand why dictators exist.
Multiple calls today with a male client who dominates conversations, cuts me off, asks follow up questions when I’m in the middle of a sentence etc. How do I show I'm the one in charge??
F, just got rolled off & having a hard time feeling like it’s not bc I challenged M Mgr. Have seen him disrespect F Mgr in front of the team and make her visibly upset. Feels sexist. First proj @ D. ☹️
Is it rude to suggest to a new analyst that she needs to look more professional, e.g. don’t show up with wet hair to client meetings (even if on Zoom)? FYI I’m also a female and just trying to look out for these new hires
Has anyone mailed it in on a project and got successfully rolled off without ramification? I’m supporting multiple projects, never asked for one in particular, and I have limited time for it. Everyone else is on it full time so they of course expect the same sense of urgency, but it’s down on the list of my priorities. Replacement staff extremely limited and I’m not going to spend loads of extra hours as I’ve done in the past to save another project. Nobody will ever learn.
New auditor here, I see most auditors get booked for 10- 12 hours on engagements during busy season. But heard everyone’s working 65 hours to 100 hours a week during that time. Does that mean almost everyone is eating their hours in big four and midsize firms ? If you’re assigned for 12 hours daily, Monday to Friday, but actually working 15 hours and weekends, do you book 12 hours Monday to Friday ? Or the actual hours you worked including weekends ?
Have to be out of country for 8 weeks with only 5 weeks of PTO and project getting over right when I am leaving. What is better for H1b - to be on bench or unpaid leave?
Was making $59K @ Deloitte’s delivery center.. networked to be staffed on client facing / core consulting roles & leveraged the experience to get an offer for 90K at a smaller consulting firm! Even though everyone on this app makes like 250K+ lol
What fun things you would do if you are on bench and know that you're starting engagement next week?
What would you do if you had 2 weeks of bench time or vacation right now? Go to India to meet family or roam around US by yourself
EYers is it appropriate to ask your counselor for LOR if you’ve recently switched and only known them for 6 mon? Other option is a manager who i work with on and off on my current project for 8 mo..

Is WLB better at S& than MBB/Tier2 or worse? I feel like it’s probably the latter because of Utilization/PwC culture, but want to validate.
Someone on my team mentioned a delta fast track promotion specifically for BCG but I can’t seem to find it - anyone have a link?
My manager is making us switch our weekly flights from American to Southwest because it's cheaper and easier to cancel.......WTF

Hi all, has anyone in supply chain taken one of the certification exams? (CPSM, CPSD, CSCP) Does it help in any way besides refreshing contents about supply chain? I was thinking might be a good way to strengthen my resume (most of my career in investment analysis) but not really sure if it really brings that much value. Any insights appreciated. #supplychain #cpsm #cpsd #cscp #education #certifications

Hi! I want to exit out of consulting with almost 4 years under my belt. I’m mainly looking for product manager roles but debating going into SWE (after studying). I’ve applied to so many roles externally but rarely get call backs. How can I increase the number of interviews I’m getting or be seen as a competitive applicant?
delta 7pm flight delayed til 8:45am close to 14 hour delay due to weather plus pilot timed out. can I ask delta for rebursements of hotel and transportation?
Hello - I am thinking about taking an internal mobility opportunity for a lob strategy role. Any idea of a VP salary for this type of role and how/when to discuss an increase during the process. JPMorgan Chase

We have openings in a banking focused solution group. WLB is actually pretty good, and people in this office are super respectful of your life outside of work. If you have 2-4 YOE, DM me and we can chat!
What exit opportunities exist at tech companies for someone in consulting with Change Management and HRT background?
Fucking Delta lounge at LGA is packed
For a strategy-esque (non-PM) career trajectory in FAANG/tech, what’s the comp trajectory look like? Can one ever reach MBB partner-like comp? MBB’s pay trajectory is too good to leave, but maybe I’m being naive
Westin at Wilmington DE 👀 I see a lot of y’all working but once it hit 5pm. Everyone seemed to vanish.
Best way to study for AWS cloud practitioner certification? (Not very technical but hoping to learn)
