Hey! New hire here. How do we know if we have a good coach?! Do we just ask around? Are there certain qualities to look for? I’m sure many of them are great but seems like having a good coach is just like having a good supervisor/boss...and we all know a well liked boss sets you up for success/promotion.

I got an offer from a company from 4 LPA to 7 LPA with 1 yr experience in python. They’re are expecting me to sign an agreement with 2 months salary as a cheque which will be returned back after one year without breaking the bond. Is it a safe choice to agree such bonds? Just looking for advice. I just completed my first year as a Tax Senior at EY. With no raise, my salary is still 80k. I have had a couple of recruiters from mid size firms reach out to me saying they are looking for managers. Is there a reason why I shouldn’t pursue these? Like I guess I don’t know enough, but the prospect of making manager 2 years earlier than at EY (not to mention I’d probably get a 30k or so raise) seems really good. Can anyone explain the pros/cons please

How does salary differ from hourly? I was told if I needed time to grieve I could take time off and work at night or weekends to make up. I’m on salary 🙄 was my time counted when I logged in early or took initiative to work late and on weekends before?

With the world we are living in now and record high inflation, how much of an increase would you ask for if you were up for a promotion? This would include going from a level 1 to a Sr. In company there are level 3s (which is entry level) up to level 1s, then senior level. The responsibilities would consist more so of being the go to person for help and guidance opposed to going to the manager of that team in the department. The pay grade starts out to be about $5k more than a level 1 initially.

First Post: Flexibility as an Attorney

Am I expected to be in front of my laptop during business hours every single day or can I make an appointment or head to the gym at certain times?

For background, I’m a newly minted attorney at a small to mid-size firm with reasonable billable hours (under 2000 annually). I also get to work from home multiple days a week. There has been no mention of expectations and the turnover rate is so high, I don’t know who to ask.

Had female lead say I’m “too direct” and can have a “tone” that can be off putting. Needs more “leadership presence.” when pressing for specifics - none could be shared other than some people (clients) might (at some pt) not like it. I believe it’s gender biased to give such broad personality feedback (Google the studies) when they said flat out my performance is top notch. Is this something anyone has experienced? They said I’m not a bully or unprofessional/too casual so it’s odd to me.
