If there is a downturn, the boutiques don’t have other areas to keep the group afloat as much (A&M does bankruptcy), and there will be layoffs. Less training outside of big 4

More money at boutiques, lower overhead, less resources (databases). Much more eat what you kill at boutiques from a comp perspective as You get more senior.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

I currently work M&A strategy in Canada at a big 4 and am looking to move into PE ops in the US. Location and fund size are negotiable. Working remotely for a tech co and still can't get over how much more time I get to spend with my kids. To be honest, this alone is worth so much more than money can buy. For those who plan well, I really think exiting can be worth it if family is a priority. It's really helped my marriage also, I'm a lot kinder to my wife with way less stress.

So coming up to my 3 years at UK KPMG Audit, and I got an offer from a food delivery tech company (think Ubereats, Deliveroo, Doordash etc) for a performance analyst type role which monitors/reports metrics for the Operations.

I'm interested in tech and thought this was a possible to foot in the door for future financial roles in tech.

Considering leaving federal advisory for an internal staff accountant role. I don’t want to be a consultant or talk to clients anymore. Only downside is the potential pay cut, but it might be worth it for my mental health.
