Pros: no income tax(i think) Cons: it’s sandy, very very sandy

It’s rough and course and it gets everywhere

I worked in Abu Dhabi and can’t recommend it enough, no income tax, 5% vat, etihad and emirates girls everywhere ❤️, great weather, great construction, great food, cheap cabs, super safe, good nightlife, overall costs were fine, great international feel to the people living there. Cons: be careful you could get lashed for doing something stupid, ramadan, can’t live with your spouse unless you’re married, sharia law in general.

Pro: 1. pay (close to US level + no income tax) 2. high impact & intellectually stimulating projects (building entire sectors from the ground up) 3. international colleagues (lots of Europeans) Con: 1. clients are not mature organisations and often haven't worked with consultants before (language barriers, project scoping issues, handholding for implementation work) 2. work hours are among the toughest you can find in the game (expect 70-80h/week as the base) 3. Dubai can get boring easily for some (high standard of living but materialistic/artificial) Be aware that you will spend the majority of your time working in the public sector in Saudi Arabia.

DM me if you have have questions, I've worked there

I think it’s an interesting place to work but for a shorter term. Defiantly $ lucrative but a lot of things that you need to get used to. I am not sure what kind of opportunity but consulting is a good thing to do in Dubai. Happy to chat further if you want

Decent pay (and no income tax). Fun if you’re single and in your 20s. Less so now I’m married with kids in my 30s (but lots of people still enjoy it). Pretty liberal. Didn’t experience the gender thing but there is a racial hierarchy. But if it says American on your passport then you should be good. What’s the package you’re being offered?

What's the point of working in Dubai? Local package vs expat package means the role may be less lucrative for you, so this isn't about money. Is this just an amazing role? I've just heard that the work life balance is bad, and the work culture can feel disrespectful by American standards. There are fewer high paid jobs in that region, so bosses often think they own you, hence the long hours, and verbal interactions that are less egalitarian than you may be used to.
