I’m trying to hop between big 4 consulting roles. Presently, I’m a life science PhD and MBA hire to EY with 3+ YOE as a Senior consultant/associate. Do I have any shot at manager roles assuming I focus on life science roles? I’m concerned my lack of manager title kills any chance I have of joining another firm as a manager.
What are people experiencing about going from a small local firm to big 4 or RSM or BDO? What is the learning curve? Do people think differently of you since you didn’t go straight to big 4?
For non-Big 4 people (RSM, GT, etc), did your pre-employment background check reveal any pending charges for gross misdemeanors?
Which Big 4 has the least layoffs right now on the West Coast? If so, why? More clients, hired just enough, realistic goals, etc...?
WWYD? I have an offer for the same job I currently do, but at a different B4 and (hopefully) with better leadership. Still interviewing and was told today that my candidacy was very strong for the position I really want at company 2, but they won't be able to make a decision for at least 2 weeks. I have to provide a decision for the first offer soon and have stretched out the timeline as much as possible. Take the gamble? Go for the job I really want vs. anything to get out of a bad situation
Are the big 4 the only consulting companies that requires work papers after each engagement? Seems like an audit thing.
If you are not a partner, do any of the Big 4 have a mandatory retirement age? I have a friend who is working in industry and has been approached by a few firms as he has a very desirable technical skill set. He is in his 50's and doesn't want to make a move unless there is some runway to keep working. He basically could work as long as he wants where he is at. The pay increase would be significant for him to jump to but if he is mandatorily forced out in a few years it might not be worth it.
Hello fellow Freelancers! I’ve just quit my FT job as a senior accountant at a Big 4 accounting firm. My hope is to gain enough freelance work to continue working on my own and enjoy freedoms of being a freelancer. Please send me a message if you are looking for a freelance CPA!
Has anyone made a switch from B4 to professional services at a software company? Why you made the move? Lessons learned. Thanks.
Any robo-advisors (or other places you’d recommend) where we’re allowed to park $? Found out that I have $ just sitting in my Vanguard brokerage account that hasn’t been traded & will need to decide myself which funds to invest this $ — don’t have the expertise or time to do this Note: There are limitations for us at Big 4, since we’re audit firms
Is anyone getting a h1 transfer after the premium processing has been suspended. I got an offer with another big 4, but recruiter mentioned that it takes about 6-8 months to get h1 transfer 😩 (contd)
If you plan to accept an offer with another B4 - what's the best way to break the news? Do you just tell HR first or should you tell your teams? Don't want to screw over any teams. Any advice helpful!
Has anyone heard anything about the full time MBA program at UF? I simply want a respectable degree to work in industry in Florida after b4 tech consulting - appreciate any insight
In Jan Im leaving to go to another Big 4 in a similar role. Once I give notice, if I'm asked to leave the same day does this mean EY is firing me? Or will they still pay for term of the notice?
Out of the Big 4 and Accenture, which is considered the best in terms of benefits, culture, and WLB?
I need a profession with greater job security. What should I do? Big 4 seems like a shit hole?
MBB 🐠, Do HR talk to each other in different firms? I basically would like to speedup the processes with some firm, by leveraging that I have final round / offers elsewhere
Picking a country to live and work in: my spouse is a Mexican citizen (with US green card) who works in Mexico City, and I'm a US citizen. We want to live together, but my spouse has great career opportunities in tech in MC, and finding a job in the US has been hard. I could likely get a job in MC, but I don't speak Spanish and my income would be much lower. How should we handle the decision of who moves where? We are both looking for tech jobs in the bay area, but we haven't had much success.
What are some atypical interview questions you’ve asked or been asked? The one that caught me most off guard, though an easy answer was, “What would you do if you weren’t doing advertising?”
Need to upgrade my home office chair. Looking for ergonomic, tall friendly (6’2), that can be comfortable for long hours. Looking for recs under $400
Unpopular opinion- maxing out your 401K is overrated. I would rather have the money for other investments that I can access now ( ie real estate). Thoughts ?
So I’m about a year out and a half out from university and currently work for Cenlar. As time grew in, I really don’t like my job anymore and want to leave. Have been on 30+ interviews but can’t seem to find what I’m doing wrong. Looking for sales support/ops roles within financial services/tech/consulting since I was an Econ major. So far, haven’t been able to land anything and have been looking since January. Any help? This job has really mentally put me in a dark place DESPERATELY wanna leave
I got rolled off my first project bc the client wanted someone with more experience. Now I’m on a project backfilling someone who’s about to roll off his current project (he can’t start the project
MBB folks on H1-B who recently switched to FAANG - did you run into any issues with visa transfer? My transfer has been filed and I’m a bit nervous about USCIS’ perception of consultants and the current sentiment around H1-B visas.
Does anyone have any experience with BCG Platinion Risk Consultant case study interviews? This is my first time doing a case study interview and I'm currently trying to prepare, but most case studies I have found online are more in management consulting.
I got the verbal offer last week from the recruiter. We talked compensation and location, and said the letter would be ready after meeting with the HC. After reading some of the posts about the HC it makes me believe that the offer is not nearly as guaranteed as communicated. Is there anything I can do on my end now? Is HC difficult to get through/vary by position? I believe I head in there tomorrow.
Anyone think AMEX needs to up the platinum benefits to compete with CSR? Lyft Pink membership is very attractive, especially now that the airline gift card loophole is closed
Curious question fam - I'm 23 and earn ~70k. At what age will I get to six figures, if I'm not fired and move up at an average pace in consulting?
Is it possible to do "partial" greenchoice and still receive points? For example, don't opt it for the first day but opt in for greenchoice for the rest of the week and still get partial points?

What’s PE megafund comp looking like for an associate these days? Looking to make the jump but want to know if it is worth it...
Quote of the day from a client email: "I don't want to be an alarmist, but I'm worried."
What grade (GS) level do MBB consultants gun for after 1-5 years when exiting into government?
