Pros:
*There's lots to do.
*You will stretch your skillset.
*You learn to manage outside counsel and budgets.
*You work with smart non-lawyers.
*You get to do tasks that you'd wait years to do at a firm (or never do at a firm)
Equity upside.
*Not being on-call in the same way as you were at a firm (nights and weekends often respected).
*You join a supportive in-house bar via ACC and TechGC.

Client wants to set up an LLC where a President gets 25% of the membership interests but contributes no capital other than his services. Governance is supposed to be handled by the vote of the members based on percentage ownership. It seems like the President is going to recognize tax on the value of his contributed services unless we structure his interests as profits interests. Would welcome anyone’s thoughts. I went in-house at year 4 — now at year 5. I feel like my growth has stunted and I’m not learning and growing my skill set. Let’s talk Salary. I’m seeking an in-house counsel position as an Associate at a large financial institution. Headquarters is San Antonio, TX. I have 13+ years of Regulatory experience in other industries and 3 years at a large financial institution. I researched on Indeed and there was only one salary posted. I’m currently employed at the company in the legal department in a non-attorney position. I’d appreciate any feedback on salary ranges or strategies on negotiating a pay increase.

I work at a large, global software company, and am looking to make a move to a more collaborative environment with better culture. I’ve been offered a more senior position at a smaller North American company in the crypto space where I know I will learn a lot, but I’m worried it might hurt my overall career trajectory. Eventually I plan on moving internationally. When it comes to searching for a new position, does company size/reputation matter more than the experience you have at the company?
