We're doing so many transformations / long term (and therefore large scale) cases out of my office...obviously that's only one data point, but as a firm, employees keep hearing that we're growing rapidly and doing well and have been shown internal numbers to back it up. Would be curious to know what else is passing through the grapevine...
But I have heard BCG partners in the past use this "fact" to try and make it a two man race of McKinsey and BCG and ignore Bain because BCG is closer to Bain in revenue than it is to McK so they try to distance themselves in that way. Not really accurate though or fair to Bain
Truth. It's on the early stage roadmap for our acquisition of Bain.
^ stop trying so hard Deloiters
Do I hear MBD???
Deloitte has no competitors, because others can't compete.
@bcg 3 loling at the idea that you don't lose cross offers to Bain. You lost me, because I couldn't stand the undercutting being done by the partners. They trash talked Bain freely and nothing they said panned out to be true.
Bain was founded in 1973 and BCG trash talk started ~two days later. It hasn't stopped. Questionable tactic.
Yea Bain is shit
@Bain7 - You lost me because Bain is too white (and also didn't want to join a frat)
Accenture and Deloitte...pass the popcorn please 👀...
Mckinsey I guess
Bain 5, that's interesting for ugrad because we won most of the MBA cross offers in Chicago when I was there (now in SF). I think Bain appeals to undergrad more for that "fratty" feel
Outside the US, MBB isn't quite universal... BAH used to be the big guy in parts of the Middle East (no idea if that still holds). Bain is very dominant in Italy, McKinsey owns India, Germany had Roland Berger as a top tier player.... In the US and for truly global projects, Its MBB. Specific countries often have a different dynamic.
If it helps, have only recently competed against Bain for a DD. The larger projects rest were MB and big 4. And not that anyone was asking, we don't win any student against MBB 😳
At competitive bids, McK is there for 40-50% as is BCG, and they are the two firms in our competitive bids most often. All three very much hitting the same projects. We obviously don't go up to bat against McK BTO - we don't do tech implementation and we also don't really do much government work other than some pro bono type stuff. BTW we win said competitive bids significantly more often than BCG or McK do too. No shortage of long term transformation projects - of the seven clients I've worked on, 5 were 2 year+ (though often a wide variety of projects within that, not just one).
It's revenue indexed to 1990 on a time series. We are much steeper than the other two.
Source you ask? "BCG Analysis" 😎
🍿
Just another data point, ~700 partners in the Bain system, which at the 5M revenue from OP is the 3.5B from McK2. A+ on market sizing people.
Who would that make your main competitors?
