Global entry =/= pre-check. Global entry is for speeding up customs via using kiosks vs talking to customs agents on where you’ve been, which country you’re coming back from. It has nothing to do with shoes
Thank you D1. I was like - I am missing something in these responses.
Nor do Tom's with a stacked heel, just so you know ☺️
get global entry.. keep shoes on :)
And global entry is an entirely separate process overseen by an entirely separate government agency (CBP, versus TSA for airport security). You can just buy both fast track programs together since CBP and TSA are both part of DHS. Global entry has NOTHING to do with getting through airport security, and precheck has NOTHING TO DO with getting through customs and immigration.
I have Global Entry. If your shoes beep going through, back out you go to take off your shoes
Stilettos too, sometimes. Found that out with metal detectors when I worked in a statehouse.
I have Naturalizer block heels and was shocked they did not set off the metal detector! They’re really light weight so I guess not made of metal like other heels
My David Yurman bracelet doesn’t go through! Thanks for the PSA! My leather tall work boots don’t make it either, the buckles set it off...
I usually forget to take it off until I’m walking through, then hear it beep - I then take it off right then, put it in the TSA worker’s hand standing on the other side of the metal detector, walk back out, walk back in watch it not beep, then grab my bracelet back out of their hand. It’s usually so fast, and I never even say any words when I do this, just motions, and the TSA agent is usually speechless the entire time, it’s kind of funny. But it works... 😂🤷🏽♀️ the TSA agent is usually a bit confused, but then let’s it go 😂
