PSA: didn’t think anyone needed to hear this, but apparently many do. When you’re interviewing for a job you actually want, and the interviewer asks if you have any questions for them at the end, have questions ready, and legitimate ones. It’s a really bad look when candidates say “no I don’t have any questions,” or they ask something incredibly stupid like “what cool swag do you get?”

Agree, but at the end of a lengthy interview process sometimes you genuinely have no questions left.

Maybe it depends on how the rest of the interview process went, but I personally like to have the interview be more conversational and I intersperse my questions throughout. Then when we get to the end and they ask if I have any questions it’s a little annoying, because like yeah, i asked five questions already to try to have a genuine dialogue and back and forth.

They probably already made their decision about you in the middle of the interview, whether you ask a good question or no question probably doesn’t matter that much.

Agree entirely!

+💯 The first thing I look for is a curious mind.

Until the pandemic moved interviews to virtual, I would always write down my questions in a nice portfolio I would carry into interviews. It was noted several times after the fact that the interviewers were impressed by the preparation. I typically had 8-10 fairly generic questions written down that could be easily customized on the fly to information learned in the interview. The visual impact was effective in setting me apart for competitive positions.

Sounds like it certainly didn’t hurt. Preparedness rarely fails.

I went through two rounds of interviews for
a job that the posting stated $36.66 per
hour (FP&A Analyst)…the company
recruiter had told me in the initial call the
pay could be 32-36 because of the other
benefits. If I do get a job offer what range
should I try for? I was really hoping to get
around the 36-40 but now I feel like they
may try to offer lower than what was
posted. Also there was no range but the
average for this position is upper 70s-90k.
Thanks for any help!

Looking for advice on a situation where a new teacher used IEP and ETR data directly (copied and pasted literally word for word) from a previous IEP/ETR directly to her IEP without adding present level data. This was all after the IEP fell out of compliance and was a month overdue. I feel like the district and family should be aware.
