PSA: if you are on a weight loss journey, TAKE PROGRESS PICS. My scale has been jumping around +/- 5lbs for the past month. Took a progress picture last night and compared it to my picture a month ago. It is clear major changes took place which gives me the next boost of motivation I needed to keep going. Also, for context, I’m now around 130lbs at 5’5 so my weight loss has slowed down and even a few lbs will be noticeable!

Nice job! Also recommend taking your measurements rather than just relying on the scale. Weight can vary from week to week for women due to ovarian cycle, so I recommend weighing oneself exactly one month apart.

Important to note muscle weights more than fat. Lower weight does not always indicate better health.

Except in this case I’m not doing any strength training due to doctors orders. So no new muscle being developed :)

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. Just got my blood work back. Cholesterol is 267 (only LDL is high, HDL and triglycerides look great). It's always been high, and my doctors always said it was fine because of how fit and healthy I am. I went from mega fit to couch potato over COVID. Used to ride horses once a week, do BJJ/judo three or four times a week, weightlift once or twice a week.

Just did my first riding lesson in nearly two years. Hopefully will get back to martial arts with other vaccinated folks this week.

Working on losing the last 10-15 pounds. My eating is 100% (tracking to the gram, correct macro ratios, taking regular “diet breaks”, etc) but interested on feedback for my workout split. Been upping cardio for some weight loss but don’t want to waste efforts.

Mon: HIIT (peloton or kickboxing)
Tue: LISS (~2 mile jog) + weights (heavy but not max, working with home gym equipment so limited)
Wed: LISS + weights
Thu: HIIT (peloton or kickboxing)
Fri: LISS + weights

For the last two months I’ve been having a hard time falling and staying asleep. At first I thought it was from lack of physical activity, but now I’m getting at least an hour of exercise in the morning and still can’t fall asleep. When I do fall asleep, I’m usually up after 4 hours. I take melatonin and that used to help. Maybe it’s time I go see a doctor?
