That's absurd. There's noway the hotel would get "dinged" for something they have no control over.
That doesn’t make sense - they probably say that (in case they actually say it) Bc you’re taking up valuable available rooms that someone else can do early checkin into.
You literally get a notification of ‘your room is ready!’ so...
Not sure I understand that. If I say I’m checking in at 5pm and I actually check in at 9pm...why would that hurt them?
I’ll give OP the benefit of the doubt. It’s more about having your room ready (assuming you pick after 3pm). Whenever mine is not, I point management to the T&Cs and get compensated.
Because it would show as if they didn’t have your room ready for you when you requested it
What’s the policy about not having the room ready by the time you come?
M1 what was the compensation?
Why do I care if they get dinged?
PWC1 sounds like you’re a real peach
More info- if you mobile check in at 3 they have to fill your room by 3 or thy don’t meet their internal SLAs (bc most are independently owned) so you either get whatever room is available at 3 so they meet their SLAs even if you are a regular who usually likes high rooms or they get dinged. So if you have specific requests just don’t mobile check in
Ok let me rephrase that for you:
If you use mobile check-in, they will assign you whatever room is available at the requested time, and will not wait for a nicer room to become available (in case you were hoping for an upgrade, had a specific preference, etc), since they have to meet internal SLAs.
Nothing to do with hotel being ‘dinged’ when you request check-in time vs but don’t check in until later, and whether you check in online and then don’t show up until later.
Moral of the story is, don’t request check-in time at 10am if you don’t plan to check in until the evening, since you may get assigned whatever room is available at 10, and will have lower chances for an upgrade/nice room.
Best time to check in with highest chances of an upgrade is typically in late afternoon (~2pm-4pm) and varies by hotel/what type of clientele frequent that hotel. There was a TPG post on this topic
Yes but *if they know you and wait for a room you would like, which mine do, they will receive a low performance marker and receive less or no bonus and or be put on the hotel equivalent of a pip
Ok, that makes sense
