No one has mentioned one ATS that actually robotically filters and rejects.
BrassRing (Kenexa), Workday, iCims...and others can do that automatically but after you select the questions needed to filter the candidates. For example, the the clearance is required once the candidate selects NO his application will be automatically singled out and won't show on your active candidate's' list.
I've used almost every ATS out there, and I wish they could do everything that the candidates shrieking the loudest say they do. Yes, there are screening questions that are programmable to knock people out who don't meet certain hard core requirements. Yes, there are fields for skills. But anything that gets past that is screened by a real live recruiter. Do we make mistakes and sometimes reject a qualified candidate? Yes. I've done that because I missed something on the resume, but in general, the applicants who look good are flagged for further review. AI eventually will take over some recruiting functions, but not all.
THANK YOU ALL!! I’m glad the real recruiters are all on the same page. I felt like I was living under a rock for a second with ATS ‘myths’ going around.
We’re not using one currently, but they exist and the true AI versions are becoming more and more available. Many integrate with the ATS or HCM tools and we’re all using it today.
Our industry will be shaken up by these, but it will be the larger orgs that use them first etc.
Agree on this! When you get 85 applications within the first hour of posting a recruiting job, you don’t need to interview everyone. You interview the ones that have the skills you need, and make a decision based on that.
One of the simplest examples of this is when you post a job on LinkedIn and add the screening questions/must-have qualifications, there is an option at the bottom for LinkedIn to automatically filter-out and send rejection emails to any applicant who didn't meet any of your must have qualifications.
They also give you the option to do the same for any candidates who do not live in the same country that the job is posted in at the very end after the role has been posted.
I don't know...I just have a feeling LinkedIn is going to end up sued for this.
In nearly 20 years of recruiting I've never once had an ATS with that functionality.
They’re systems they specifically ask if you would like your resume reviewed artificially or not. Applicants have a choice of opting in or out. Many systems are built based off of keywords which is why so many job postings gets promoted over and over bc recruiters are having “trouble” finding talent despite having a multitude of applications.
What system are you referring to specifically?
