PSA: The past tense for lead is led. Please, for the love of god, stop using lead as the past tense for lead.

This is a great example of grammatical ledership. Excellent.

Wrong. It’s leaded, duh

I’ve long wondered how so many never learned this or chose to ignore it.

But if you really want to start a debate, let’s talk pled versus pleaded—now that’s a doozie with no real correct answer.

You really lead us to the water there OP. But you can’t make me drink 🤣🤣

Do I do this?? Thanks for my newest source of anxiety, OP.

What about past tense of “plead”?

Heed, hed, heeded, hedded. IYKYK

My boss in my creative agency threatened to fire me because I, a male, came into work with my nails painted. HR is having a very complicated day today as I found out I could take legal action if he does fire me since we don't have an established dress code that has any guidelines against male nail polish wearing.

Been practicing a year now. Of 6 attorneys, 4 will be retiring soon, and I was brought in to hopefully take over. I am troubled: first that my partners largely provide me with no guidance. They handed me a client with a large quantity of fairly straightforward casework and have been hands off since. There also hasn’t been any talk of a raise/performance review. How should I ask for guidance/mentor ship? How do I ask for a raise, or should I presume one is coming?

My goal is to be a B+ associate. Any tips would be helpful.

Anyone know of big law firms in Dallas where you can be M&A, make market/bonus by billing in the 1900-2000 hour range every year and not get fired. To early to decide if I want to shoot for partner or go in house. At this point, just don’t want to bill 2000-2400 hours a year to get a garbage bonus (5%). Double points if the culture isn’t god-awful. Does such a place exist?

Highly Important Question: Puppies. I’ve been working at a smaller firm for the past 2 years and will be starting at a bigger firm (about 400 attorneys) in about a month or so. New firm is about 10 mins. from my house and has a billable requirement of at least 1,650. I’ve got an older pup and have been considering getting a younger pup to be his little brother for a while. Any experiences with having a puppy in mid-size law? Shouldn’t be as bad as “big law” but just wanted to hear thoughts.

How do you handle micro managers? I’m a second year transactional associate and for the most part the partners and senior associates I work for trust me to get the work done. But this one guy is constantly checking up on me, asking for status of deliverables long before the deadlines he gave me, and just generally pestering me on everything I do. I am going to go insane if don’t figure out a way to stop this.

Anyone else "struggling" financially? I know, it sounds ridiculous. Two kids (pre-school), mortgage (10 yr I/O), loans (but not huge), full time nanny (7 to 7), and just life expenses. Wife also works full time and does decent. We both max out our 401k, but after all our expenses, at the end of each month, I'm stoked if we can save a dollar. And struggling is definitely the wrong word, but just curious if any other mid/seniors feel the same or had any tips. We live in Los Angeles.
