About time companies will need to start paying fair market salaries. Staff aug firms ruined it for IT folks..

Yep!

I don’t see this impacting true consulting as much, but would definitely affect the Indian pure play firms that outsource IT staff to large companies.
Never really made sense to me why we would import lower wage people to outsource US based jobs.
I get that it saves companies money, but doesn’t seem in line with the intent of the H1B program (which is supposed to help with skill shortages, not lower wages or cost Americans jobs)
I feel like these worker programs have historically depressed salaries in IT.

Seconded.
Not likely to pass. Many companies would fight this back, hard.

From what I understand, this is effective immediately without any review period (which is atypical). All applications and current pending cases are subject to these changes right now. Current H1B holders may not be able to renew if their salary level isn’t at the newly defined minimums for each level.
This may also have a large impact on MBA H1B seekers who opt for lower paying roles outside of in consulting, finance and tech.
A link on the salary requirement by profession?
Most likely, it will be struck down by a court.

I think we pay people pretty well so doubt it impacts us too much? We’ll see though there’s always fine print
I wonder how smaller shops will be affected if they can’t afford to pay a higher wage. I know a few local ones so should be interesting to watch.

You still have offshore rates to exploit, but the days of relocating people from South Asia to the US for lower level tech contract work may be over
So h1b workers have to be paid more than US workers in the same role? The details aren’t very clear
Anyone know where we can find the consulting salary percentiles? lol
