PSA to Partners - If a bunch of you split off and created a firm with a truncated travel schedule (T-Tr, 1-on-1-off), you would have the best talent in the world beating down the door to get in.

Yes. Clients adapt to anything, especially if the quality of the deliverable is not compromised due to a relaxed travel schedule. Also, cheaper.

these firms exist as well as no travel firms. they're boutique/small.

That’s the travel schedule I have now and can attest this is a huge improvement

Would the clients tolerate having to adapt to an on site schedule dictated by the consultants though?

What’s T-Tr?

I interpreted it as Tue-Thu.

50/50 travel would be great

I ask because when I’ve tried to set things like this up, invariably the schedules of the clients, or at least their execs, nearly immediately dictated deviations from it.

Maybe it could work for certain kinds of work, but it just seems as though were it a sustainable model for an entire large firm, someone would have already done it.

Plenty of firms that do this and they have not taken down the big guys... I believe even Accenture is going to a local model.

Already at local

Isn't this the slalom model as well? (Or at least seems to be from all the recruiters who keep calling)

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

Seriously thinking of taking a 6 mo sabbatical and getting away from it all for a while next year. Potentially travel around the world in Q3 / Q4 presuming the pandemic situation has improved. I know it will set me back from making Partner by at least 1 year but who cares? I feel like it will be a life changing experience (traveling around the world part).
