Pulled a borderline all-nighter last night (slept 2 hours) and had an intense workload today as well. Submitted my final assignment for today around 9pm and was so tired I completely missed one of the docs I was supposed to review that was just sitting in the email. I want to crawl into a hole and die. Been working something like 34 of the last 36 hours and I feel like all anyone will remember is this fuckup.

If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.

I’m a 7th year M&A associate at a V25 in NYC. Some days I feel like I’m on cloud9 and love what I do. Other days I feel like my world is crashing down and I get into a debilitating depressive state and can’t focus on anything. I cycle through these phases every few days. I’ve kept it together enough to be considered a rockstar still and am up for partner next year. It seems impossible to break the cycle since neither phase lasts long enough before I cycle back to the other. Is this sustainable?
