I worked at a pretty big NY shop and they tried to lowball me as well. I left and got 85k without even a fight.

85-89k seems to be the norm. But usually most places will try and give you 70-75k for mid level promotions. Usually you have to leave to get that bump. Not the case for every place obviously just speaking from experience and my friends as well.

Which one is better in terms of career growth, job security, hikes and wlb. 1- PWC India - kolkata location (hometown) 2- Accenture - Bangalore (relocation not an issue) Fixed and joining bonus is same. Variable in ACN is 27%. PWC variable is not mentioned and is performance based. Also I heard that ACN is not that good with variables. Thanks in advance.

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

The belief that you should be able to move from HCOL to LCOL and not have to take a pay cut is ultimate in socioeconomic and geographic privilege and outright entitlement. Nobody is going to give LCOL a raise to move to HCOL. The work you do is the same, you produce the same value, bill the same rate as peers in another geography. Take a pay cut or give LCOL a significant raise.

I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible?
