Is there a concern that your references could cause them to pull their offer?

like

Yeah the references are more of a formality. I put in notice once I signed an offer.

Your preference but I would wait till offer is in hsnd.

Did you verbally accept or sign a written offer?

They didn’t call my references until 3 months after I had already started...

I started my new job almost a year ago and still haven’t received word that my background check and referrals were approved! If you wait to hear back on these, you may never start.

Once you sign the offer letter, give your two weeks.

I agree - signed offer letter = put in two weeks. Besides, why would you give a questionable reference to a potential future opportunity?

Put in your two weeks two weeks before you want to quit by? Like is that a month from now? Get your start date first and then do the math?

Hello all - I have about 10 years of experience and have only worked in a law firm setting. What are some differences to going in house - either positive or negative? I’m on the fence but very interested in making a move.

I’m generally pretty organized at work because I have to be. I’m a 4th year lawyer and my firm recently started including me in a new transactional practice area. I know now the lead attorney is unorganized and “meets”all deadlines last minute. They hope that I will bring organization to this area. I’ve lived my whole life trying not to live like this. It’s a good opportunity for me to look good if I fix it, but it’s stressful and more practice management than legal work. Continue in comment...
