Hi Fishes, I have received an offer for the role of Senior Manager (Accountant) from Cognizant for 20LPA (66% higher than current CTC) & Flexible Work Location. I'm already due for promotion in my current organization which gives me 20% hike from July 2022. If I consider this hike. Cognizant offer 20LPA is 38% increase. Should I ask more from Cognizant? Could you please tell your review about Cognizant - Pros & Cons (what you feel)?

I just had an interview where I was basically told (yes I was told) I’ve done “too many different things, and I have no focus” well after 13 years in Marketing I’d say doing “too many different things” I always thought was an asset. I’ve been an entire marketing Dept, I’ve been in digital marketing, I’ve run social media, I’ve done UX & web design. I’ve been in-house and agency. But to say I “lack focus” because I’ve been in the industry for awhile??!

Basically the go to girl and been there done that. Currently I am Mohs Hisotech. I went to go ask my company for a rise and was instantly denied before I could ask for a raise. I make what I need to make. I make $28.78 and I know others make $30-$31 within the company. What should I do?

Is there a statute in New York permitting award of attorneys fees to successful party in breach of contract case?

Livid. Helped a friend with a small claims suit against a tow company that failed to provide them with all of the documentation/information as explicitly required by the vehicle code. And this violation explicitly allows statutory damages. Judge disregarded the law. Said that my friends weren’t really harmed by the tow company not giving that info. Disregarded statutory damages. Completely denied all claims. Insane. I’ve lost even more faith in our judicial system. Southern California by the way

Almost the end of my first year starting my own firm. Financially we did incredible, personally I’m exhausted. I’m tired, I don’t want to work for anyone else, but this is alot. I’m constantly hustling for business, constantly getting rejected and excited for the wins when business does come in. I’m just tired.

What “tech stack” does everyone use? I keep booking demos but would love to know what people use. The categories I’m looking for are billing, document management and document automation.

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

I am 38 and recently relocated to Charlotte, NC. Been practicing for 2 years with my own firm in CA and was hoping to join a firm in the estate planning/real estate space to get more familiar with the marketplace out here. I am a first-year attorney in a 3 person firm (I’m the third). My bosses put me on the PD appointment list to ensure I have work but I absolutely dread court appearances and litigation. I wanted to be a transactional Atty. Over the last 2 weeks I’ve been living in a constant state of panic and (embarrassingly) cry in the bathroom at least once a day due to stress. I’m getting a therapist but am seriously considering leaving the firm with no backup. What do I do?

Any contract office managers out there?

I’ve been at a small law firm for a year and eight months, and have been an attorney for one year. By small I mean, it’s me and another attorney (I’m the paralegal and law clerk as well). I don’t plan on sticking around, and am actively seeking new employment. Should I ask for a raise even though a raise wouldn’t make me stay? I’m in the San Diego area, I get paid $37 an hour, no benefits, but I get to work from home two days (I commute 104 miles total when I go into the office).

Finishing up my first year of big law, thinking of starting my own practice while I work at my current position. Thinking that in a few months, I’ll concretely work solely for my own practice full-time. How difficult is it to gain clients (mainly PI and civil lit)? My mentor also offered me to be an off counsel while I’m working at my current job so that I can refer cases for a cut, would there be an ethical issue? FYI my firm does unrelated law to PI and doesn’t forbid doing extra work.
