B1. How did you know? I'm not joking. True story.
what did I miss?
I came from a school that was a big four target, but got involved with school consulting orgs a bit later than the rest of my class. Had to network my tail off since the consultants knew the high performing students in those orgs already. Sent dozens of cold emails to alumni to network at each big four firm, just to get my foot in the door.
Most folks ignored my email (as expected), but pwc was the only firm where almost every single consultant replied, even if it was just to say they couldn’t make the call work before interviews and wish me luck. I held on to several connections from those few weeks of networking who made an effort to ensure I was prepared for the next steps of interviews week over week. To a teen, the support and effort invested in me spoke volumes of the team’s culture.
That was super sappy and I obviously have more insight on the pros and cons of the firm’s upper leadership now, but those ^ people and other immediate team members have been incredible to work with
I came because the pay was good and the name was great in the industry. Unfortunately I found that the culture and horrendous leadership more than overshadowed the good parts. I left and haven’t been happier. This place is a dumpster 🔥
If BCG/the other two said no, you should probably try all the T2 shops before you think about Peasants with Chicken
Where do you work? Give OP a referral
Felt like the people I met during the recruiting process cared more than the other firms. For example, the partner I interviewed with followed up repeatedly to see what I was thinking on the offer
No longer with the firm though.
I really liked the people. And for me, the work can be boring or horrible, but if i like the people I work with, I can make it work.
Yeah wanna know which service line has good culture too
