Pwc Moms - what is the maximum number of weeks you can take for your maternity leave (including parental leave, maternity disability leave, vacation, holidays etc)? Is there a limit of number of weeks on your leave that you can get fully paid?

@PwC 1 - I took the full 6 months of leave for this reason - last day of work 4/27, paid thru 10/5, started phased return to work 11/19, returned to work FT 1/7 the following year.

@PwC 2- Here’s my 6 mo leave and 1 mo phased return schedule broken down:
• 2 weeks prepartum leave STD (based on due date 5/10, baby didn’t come til 5/15 so ended up with an extra 2 work days paid)
• 6 weeks STD (natural birth)
[+ 2 weeks STD here if c-section delivery]
• 22 days vacation + 7 days holiday
• 8 weeks paid parental leave
• 6 weeks **unpaid** leave
• 4 weeks phased parental return - 60% @ 100% pay (during busy season so I opted for M-W full days with every Th/Fri off).

Note - I didn’t realize you accrue vacation/holidays while on paid leave. Since I returned the week of Thanksgiving, used 2 holidays to extend the 4 weeks phased return til the firm holiday shutdown plus added vacation 12/24-1/4). I went straight back to BS hours with a 7 month, 3 week old baby and didn’t take vacation again until the week off for 4th of July firm shutdown (RIP).

This is accurate. If you want to take the full 6 months, your unpaid time is a “plug” to get to 6 months after you exhaust STD/parental leave/vacation. You cannot take unpaid time without first exhausting your vacation. You could also opt to just return after the STD/parental leave without taking any vacation, or take just part of your vacation.

like

I took the full disability, parental leave, vacation and senior manager sabbatical altogether for a total of 6 months.

6 months is job protected but in most cases, some of that will be unpaid.

This is correct.

Can anyone break it down? How long is parental leave, how long is short term disability, how many weeks vacation (for your situation) , etc.

Thank y’all for all the responses!

Do you know if the maternity leave benefits are the same or different across levels/years of service at the firm? I know only SM can get the 3 week sabbatical.

Adding on to above - it seemed impactful because you don’t often get a chance to really take a long break and unplug from work. Even with a 1 week vacation, I’m often still checking emails or working a lot before/after to make up for it. People really respect sabbaticals and maternity leave, so doing the sabbatical separately gave me another opportunity to disconnect after a hard year of work.

Depending on where you are, STD is different. In California you get 4 weeks before due dare

Column H - workday(1st of the month, #ofdays before data is available, company holiday list)

Column I - I want to create a date range with the lead time needed (2-3 business days) before the data is updated. I was able to do this using text join and nested workday functions, but then my output is a serial number range (e.g., 43617 - 43700).

Formatting the cell to be dates doesn't work.

How do I get the column to read as a range of dates?

Burnout is because you did something consistently for an extended period. You can do quick fixes like go on vacation, get some sleep, exercise more. But they may only help temporarily, depending on your level of Burnout.

Try adjusting your approach to work / life to a more sustainable, and ideally, enjoyable balance.

Any advice for ending a relationship with outside counsel? I hired a large firm for ad-hoc help with a certain topic a few years ago but they've just been OK (they're aware of the issues). I've used them for 1-2 quick questions over the last few months while I found a new, more local and specialized firm. I never worked for a large law firm, so I don't know what the etiquette is. Is it acceptable to just stop tasking them, or is a more formal "breakup" expected?
