Yeah audit is a different story but Deloitte is the market leader in tax. I’m biased towards them obviously, but if you’re going to make me choose, we haven’t had anyone come over from EY unhappy but we have had them come over from PWC unhappy. 🤷♀️
Way to promote the firm, EY1! 🤦🏽♂️
EY owns that market in Tax.
PWC 1 - I just think the cultures are somewhat similar, and I’ve never heard great things about PWC in Htown. Seems to be more of a sweat shop than EY or DT
PWC
Deloitte
The partner in M&A Houston is a great guy. Not sure of team members though, sorry.
EY owns audit here, but definitely not tax
Deloitte 2 .... I concur .... Not a particularly good reflection of my current employer ... but simple honest reaction currently.
Would it be a better idea to go straight into M&A Tax at PwC or hold off and do the DSG?
What are you looking for?
What group and level?
I’ll be coming fresh out of college. Either Global Structuring(M&A/International) or the EY dsg program
PwC
Can anyone give specifics as to why in the Houston market?
Look at the markets and industry prevalent in Houston and activity so far coupled with tax reform, cash (some) companies have and this is continuing to evolve in an interesting way. Alternatively see where Amazon end up and consider that market .... but housing will likely sky rocket.
EY. The DSG experience at EY is extremely beneficial. In Houston, I’d go DT before PWC. Also, the provision experience is painful, but vitally important to a career in tax and will be valuable to a future in M&A
EY 4, curious on why you suggest D over PwC in Houston?
I'm on the verge of a move so no offence either way. At least not to me.
Agree on EY DSG will be more beneficial long term. Also PWC has such a hard time getting their own people to work in Htown when I left 3 years ago they where offering 10-20k on top of everything else just to try to get people there.
Heard the same as EY4. PwC Houston does have a reputation of extremely high hours.
The M&A and international partners (most) at PwC Houston are pretty great. Not sure about EY, but I’ve considered working for a couple of the partners in Houston and heavily considered it. PwC allows you to get experience in the fields much faster, which is also good long term. PwC also has a good international D&A group that is very chill and tight knit; can’t beat that
