PwC Partners.....can you explain the big operating model change that was announced that had no bearing on staff. Why announce it then? What benefits can we expect?

Are you taking about Project Fit?

What's Project Fit?

It was on the 60s with tmt leadership

Not sure. I'm not TMT.

The op model shift was totally designed to get partners to team up better and go to market around transformational issues rather than competencies. Rather than selling the skill I have, it forces me to compliment other partners with my skills, and for them to compliment me. It is a good thing but some partners are not used to working that way, so there has been some blowback.

It will take us a few months to organize but it should result in better projects and more work along side S&, MC, and TC people you don't already know. Your day to day (staffing, comp, etc) shouldn't change at all. Your RP will probably also stay the same.

What does the staff generally think? I would love to hear people's feelings without the partner distortion field getting in the way. Believe it or not, I think the vast majority of consulting partners in al firms want to hear what the staff think (although some need to have it framed carefully to not hit the 'ol ego).

Thanks for that explanation P2. I wish they would communicate that to us. It feels like the right change when I see many of my partners just do their own thing and worse when they are competitive with others. It limits my opportunities. How do I find out what those transformational issues are? As a director, will I get a chance to contribute too?

I think the firm was surprised by the reaction to the change, given that it is not so major for the staff. So, you should see more communication as the leaders of the go to market teams figure out what they look like and how they're going to be organized. They also differ by industry (HIAs are very different).

You can also ping your RP and ask about his/her go to market team, and you'll get an immediate download. You will absolutely get to contribute and it'll get you good exposure to lots of partners if architected properly.

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

I just found out that my CPA failed to file my returns and submit payment on time even though they confirmed on the 18th that it was going to be filed that day. I do corporate taxes and have extremely limited experience in personal taxes. What should I be concerned about here other than the penalty and late fees for their negligence?

What is the partner compensation like at BDO? Base/equity as well as pension. I heard there is 5 years as fixed partner and then 10 as variable partner before you can earn pension. Say you make partner at 40, so can’t earn pension til 55. If you retire at 55 does that mean all you have is whatever you’ve contributed to 401k or otherwise saved? Or is there a lifetime salary if you’ve been partner a certain duration?
