Q: when does Chase call you and assign a personal banker? Is it past a certain net worth or amount in your account? Or maybe it is tenure? I've never had one and they just called me today introducing herself and sent a follow up mail after.

It isn't based solely on account value. I have less than $5k in Chase deposit accounts, but maybe 100k in chase credit card limits without any accumulated balance to pay off, and they still called me and sent me materials about more premium banking options. My hypothesis is that they buy data on you and model out if you're likely to have high net worth, and target you accordingly. Most of my funds are at non-Chase institutions, and they accurately figured that out.

What net worth did you hit 👀? Jk keep us posted!

Not sure, but over $300k in chase accounts will trigger marketing action. I think PC starts at $250k, so there's a pretty big upsell at that point.

Recently, they've been trying to push their investment products to HNW individuals

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Looking for some advice/suggestions here. 24 years old, TC is now 110k. I have 40k cash savings. $6,500 in my 401k and $6,400 in Roth IRA. Just was promoted and wondering if that’s too much cash to hold onto AND if contributing to a Roth makes sense. I contribute 7% with 100% match and 10% profit sharing at the end of the year to the 401k. Contributing $550 a month to the Roth. Would appreciate any ideas as I know it’s a good spot but just wanted to see if it’s the smartest approach.

Question on I94 - I had a stamped visa on my passport. Traveled to India and came back. However 5 days before my arrival to US, a new H1B extension petition got approved although the validity(including the i94) was a month later than my arrival date to US. The CPB officer put the i94 end date as my stamped visa date. My i94 is still valid.
Example: Date returned to US: June 1, Approval date on new i797(h1b extension petition): May 26
Validity dates - July 1 2020 to 2023

Would you guys agree?

Trying to make sure I’m understanding this correctly- if I choose to contribute a lump sum of post tax money to my HSA at the beginning of the year and then just contribute a minimal amount of pre-tax money the rest of the year to max it out, I can deduct the lump sum contribution on my taxes even if I don’t itemize other deductions, right? And the net effect is the same as maxing out an HSA with entirely pretax contributions?
