Looking at exit opportunities and job description says Big 4 experience in addition to helping prepare FS and helping prepare tax forms. I mean in Big 4 you're either in audit or tax.
I accepted an offer from a company based in SF couple of weeks ago for a 70% raise from my current pay (TC). Currently in East Coast. Base pay increase was only 10% and rest is all in RSU’s. I can’t stop thinking if am making the right move. Currently in Big 4, I like my current job & I learn a lot day to day. But very clearly underpaid. Also, Pandemic has put a lot of strain on my mental health. My productivity is all time low, can’t focus and concentrate. (Cont..)
SM1 @ Big 4, 13+ exp underpaid(159k). If I move to another Big 4 or comparable firm is it realistic to expect 20-25% pay bump?
Anyone work for a company that went public? What was you’re experience like and how does it compare to B4 in terms of hours, learning, etc.? Did you feel like it opened up opportunities after the fact?
Why do many tax lawyers end up going to Big 4 firms and act like a know-it-all - when they are actually law firm rejects??
B4 Recruiter: B4 have almost identical experiences, so you’ll fit right in. Same B4 recruiter: Even though you’re on the cusp of your 2nd promo, we’ll bring you in at the entry level so that you can adjust to the firm and be set up for success.
Just left Big 4 consulting for sales strategy at a Tier 2 tech co (LinkedIn, Salesforce, etc.). Bain reached out today, any good reason to entertain?
I feel as though the big 4 have so much administrative stuff to take care of cause we have the accounting arms, do MBB or boutique consulting firms have to worry about as many e-learnings & shit?
So I left B4 risk assurance because I found the work a drag and moved to a boutique place where I was hoping to get a better experience or shape my career the way I want. However, this place isn’t what I was expecting and the project I’m on requires deadly hours and is staff aug. I’m looking to do this for a year and go back to b4 (as I like being in a bubble) but a different service line. How possible is this?
Not sure where to put this, but...how much is the max you spend on a single wine bottle at dinner when expensing dinner on a regular project working for big 4?
Had a dream last night that every partner at the Big 4 had their name added to their firm’s name. It was miserable providing a list of hundreds of names every time someone asked where I worked...
For new college grads who want to go into consulting but couldn’t make the cut this year, how much longer do we wait before we are eligible to apply as “experienced hire”? For most mbbs I know it’s ~1 of work experience required, what about big 4 or 2nd tier consulting firms?
How many years does one have to spend at a B4 in order for it to really stand out on the resume?
I am planning to do masters in cybersecurity . I migrated from India where I did my under grad. 35 M working as M at Big 4 with 12 YOE and making 170k. I feel doing a masters from US will add to my knowledge and some brand value to my education space in my resume . Any good school recommendations for online masters ? Was thinking between CMU , Berkeley , Georgie tech . Would prefer something that doesn’t need GMAT, less than 100k total tution and good brand name . Thank you. !!!
It’s pretty wild how much Big 4 demonizes people who leave. Even worse if you’re looking to jump to a competitor. It’s never that serious
I don’t have a degree but consulting experience at Big 4. I learned you can get a bachelor degree in wine tasting, do you think it would still be accepted as a regular bachelor degree for future jobs?
Looking to switch to EY cyber as a senior consultant. How many months of big 4 cyber experience post Masters is encouraged/required for the role?
How is tech consulting in big 4 different from other consulting firms like ibm, capgemini etc?
Can anyone at D confirm or deny? Is this group specific? Hoping this kicks it off B4 wide.
I am clear-eyed and ready. I am filled with vigor and determination. I have had my mettle tested and have overcome challenge after challenge. I have studied my materials and have trained my mind stronger than ever. I carry conviction in my heart and a smile on my face. Yes, I am prepared to get rejected by MBB once again.

how do you make yourself likeable enough to get lunch buddies? i find it suffocating/shallow to talk about "travel plans" "what you did on the weekend" "how much did you pay for that" 😬
Congrats to all the folks who got promoted this year! Happy for everyone but still feeling a little blue.. was really hoping to make it to the next level this year. Looking for some advice.. do I slog it out for one more year in current big 4 or do I try to jump to another firm at the next level?
Starting Day 1 CPT for PhD in Jan and have interview lined up with McK. Any chance they would be willing to hire me with this work auth and file H1 next April?
If you get some development points and a partially at level in your third year, are you screwed for promotion?
What are common exists for healthcare strategy folks? Specifically managers - possible to go into corporate dev for a provider?
Looking to create a tool we can use for stakeholder relationship tracking. We want to be able to hear a clients name, look them up in the tool, see info about their role and department, and see which of our consultants have worked with them before and on what projects. Trying to think of an easy to use, interactive tool beyond something like excel. What’s something you’ve used for this before? Don’t think we’ll be going as far as purchasing a license for a CRM software
ZS fish - What do you expect travel to be like after offices open? (I.e. similar to pre-Covid when it was minimal/local?)

What's the deal if you have a vaca planned but you are swapping firms and the vaca will take place while employed at new firm? You tell them during interview?
Was lucky to get a job shortly after being laid off. Work’s not hard but feeling burned out cause of bad process, meaningless jobs on top of the pointlessness of everything happening. How you coping?
What makes the CSR card worth it to you? I will definitely be using the $300 travel credit so just trying to to justify the $150 AF now. (cont.)
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
