Consulting Exit Opportunities

Question: Current firm has policy that employees must be in good standing on date X to receive bonus. Have already signed employment offer for another firm. Should I put my notice on date X or X+1?

I'd just put x+1 to be safe but I think your last day with the firm won't be until 2 weeks later anyway (assuming that's your notice period). Unless you mean your last with the firm will be either x or x+1.

Last day with firm will be 2 weeks later after giving notice. So X + 2 weeks or [(X+1) + 2 weeks].

OP: in same position as you and planing to do X + 1 too lol. My friend gave good advice to check with HR whether what they meant with Last day is day of giving notice or last day at work.

Best to put in notice after your bonus value is announced to you. Better if you already have received it.

Cont’d: Bonus posts to account on date X. If I put notice on date X, is there any way firm could claw it back?

Has anyone ever heard of a firm clawing back a bonus after a person puts in notice on bonus pay day? Thank you all for the input!

I got my bonus (technically at 2am on Friday). Already had my e-mail prepared and send it off on Monday 9am. D never asked for it back.

Hello! I’m 22 and I have enough saved up in my emergency fund to go ahead and turn my savings to starting a Roth IRA (yes I have a Roth 401k that I contribute to with my firm). I’m not great in finance and so I was looking for investment options that fit best for a ‘beginner’. I was considering either a Target 2055 or a Target 2055 index Mutual fund. But now I’m seeing other options like ETFs and I’m getting confused. Any advice on where to start would be really helpful!
