KPMG I cleared all the rounds of my interview with KPMG and was asked to provide necessary documents and fill a CAF form a week back and had a HR discussion too. I have requested for about 3Lakhs additional fixed pay since my current CTC has increased and HR said she will get back on this. It's been a week and haven't heard back on the offer letter. How long do you think I should wait. Please wait.

99% of the time I love remote editing.
It only gets annoying when there’s nit-picky comments that can take half a day worth of remote postings to address a comment in a particular way when if creatives were in the room with the editor it would take 10 minutes.
I hope we can generally do remote more in the future, but then come in when it might be needed for those types of occurrences.
Agree with this. It get too much down to the wire and it’s easier in the room.
Never want to go back to in person, I’m sorry I know some ppl miss the food, the in person collab etc. but I can get SO much more done in remote edits. Also I always hated having to go dedicate your entire day to a session meanwhile you have 1k other things moving on other jobs, but you used to have to sit there without taking any calls.
As a producer, a hybrid approach would be ideal. If we absolutely need to come in occasionally for whatever reason so be it, but you can’t beat the remote workflow in terms of juggling multiple jobs. Also the commute
I’m thinking it will be much more of a hybrid then before. No more editing in-person for days straight but maybe having an in-person session here and there when really necessary and handling the rest through zooms and postings.
Virtual live sessions have been amazing. Do I miss being in person sometimes? Yes. Do I miss all the amazing catering? Yes. But you know what’s even better than those? Being able to work with talent from all over the country and in other countries and still have a live experience.
Exactly, these times have opened up the world to having editors from all across the globe. There is talent everywhere. I was able to work remotely with directors and clients in Milan, flawlessly. I welcome the new world. But then again, I might be a bias.
I’m an editor myself (also director) and let me tell you, remote sessions have been a dream come true. I’m way more focused now. Before people would just be sitting around watching videos on their computers and getting into way off topic shit and it would keep us late every time. Now everything goes so much faster and smoother. I think before you’d have a full edit day so you’d just dick around because that’s what’s billed but a remote edit day actually is more focused and people don’t feel as guilty ending early. To me it’s a win-win. I see myself as a pretty creative editor who can make lots of important decisions on my own after an initial brief, I guess a less trained editor may need more guidance which could make remote harder for those teams. But overall, I bet the majority of editors and producers will prefer remote going forward with a small but vocal minority demanding in-person.
Completely agree!! So much time used to be wasted in sessions
I actually just the other day had additional edit changes that came in at 9pm (required a 15min call with the editor and he posted a flawless cut)
If we were in session I would have been in there past 10pm.
When your remote the editor and the producers have the freedom to work, never want to go back to the old way of doing things. It was outdated even before covid
I’m happy doing remote
Remote works great. I think most people prefer it.
i would like to have some time in person after the editor has a cut in place so we can dig deeper and see how they arrived there. remote has been working well with some tools so we don’t need to be sitting around all day every day in a bay, but sometimes it is easier to be in the same room at the same time.
Hybrid is fine with me and I'm sure with editors so they don't have people chatting about nothing while they are working. There is a time for in person though, as postings can take so much longer vs in the room where you say oh no just that one scene a few frames, yes like that, etc...

Bring it! I miss in person sessions and how it used to be before Covid. I’ve had it with this remote bs and welcome back face to face collaboration. Plus the yummy lunches beat the shit I’m eating at home 😂
Remote seems more efficient so far for me. But I do miss the experience of in person a bit
but the time it takes also depends on the remote platform and which version of the platform you are using. for example a recent project had one component in evercast’s current version and another component in their older platform. the new platform is much better but that post house on the older platform didn’t want to upgrade during our project. the other post house did the upgrade during our project and it happened in the background and took less than 30 minutes
In-person everything
