Question for consultants- Why don’t more of you go independent and work for yourself?
Given the discrepancy between what you get paid and what the company bills the client, you could meet in the middle and both make out great. If you have one or two clients that have work long term, you will make far more money, have less stress because you don’t have to deal with the logistics of 2 companies and have far more control over what work you do. ESPECIALLY if you are a consultant who is actually good

Risk and lack of scale.

-consistency of work is a struggle
-being in a niche where you can deliver something independently is somewhat rare, works much better if you can have a team with varying skills
-being able to achieve the same bill rate with none of the reputation backing of a firm is a struggle
-back office work is a pita

The only way I’ve seen it be successful long term is people who formed a team. Not everyone wants to start a business tho.

Hi all, I got laid off from my current company (product based) a month ago. Since then I've been looking for new opportunities. I got an offer from a good product based company with a good package and also my current company offering me rehire with promotion and a good package. I have a good rapport with my current manager, and he played a major role in offering this rehire opportunity. I'm confused about making the right decision here. Kindly share your views. Both offers are pretty much same.
