I think my career has tanked!
I've been working in SAP Basis Module for the last two years and I hate my job to be honest. Most of my peers have crossed 5 LPA and got promoted while I didn't even come close to 4 LPA. My colleagues and peers are reticent and I feel I'm wasting my time. I tried to switch to another company, but I got rejected, despite being certified in SAP HANA. My company doesn't recognise my work and I work in night shifts which made me depressed. How do I rebound in my career?
Should I join SBC or startups now in recession?

i know you’re in-house, but if you’re managing a team of designers at a design agency, you’re often called an art director. it’s like an associate creative director at an ad agency. or you could call yourself a creative director if you wanna fluff it up.
or just design director. i’d say that one.

Having 'manager' in the title opens up more salary potential.

Managing 3 designers rn
Are you trying to make your title sound more creative? Or more strategic?
Well, what do you do?
The thing to understand about corporate is the paybands are structured as [role] < Senior < Manager < Director < VP, which don't line up with agency titles.
If you color outside the lines too much, you can end up with a weird title that makes it hard for other companies to know where to slot you when you move on.
Adding 'manager' to your title sounds like a significant promotion.
I asked for associate design director and they basically said I’m not in a director level yet I’m a “senior manager” corporate hierarchy fluff …when I’m doing most of the work since my CD doesn’t have any experience in creative…
Take the Sr. Mgr title. That'll put you one bump below your CD boss. Then when they leave, you're next in-line.
If you decide to leave first, you can be considered for Assoc Dir or even Dir roles.
I’m a week late to the conversation but this was all super helpful to me too. Thanks everyone!
