Question for my pre pandemic road warriors that live alone with no family nearby. Any of you find it hard being home so much with no real roots in your area? Do any of you feel that not traveling makes your job way less desirable?

The opposite. I’m more of a free spirit, I suppose. Not traveling gives me more time focus on myself versus the rat race mentality.

Nah. I used to think I liked the travel. Now I think I just liked the change of pace but realistically it was such a time suck and I had no idea back when I thought it was just part of my job. But I've been WFH 100% since March 2020 and I'd probably feel different if I was in the office everyday. Ask me again if we ever go back. Gonna miss the Marriott points though.

Yes, I felt that. Was home usually two weekends a month pre COVID. Ended up moving back home, which has its challenges but overall was a good change. Still can’t wait to get back on the road though. I get more energy and excitement from moving around than having roots somewhere.

Currently a senior 3 at EY and hope to get promoted to manager next year by October. Is it better to move over to BCG after promotion as a project leader? Or would that not be a lateral move as a EY manager?

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out? I applied to other positions in the same company. What about reaching out to previous co workers at a different company? Not sure how to navigate this… please help. Also I’m sorry if this is the wrong bowl to post in.

I was offered a Solutions Architect role with a packaging company. When discussing details with the recruiter, she specified that the salary was $60k…I was shocked to hear that number.

I gave her my target salary as $100-120k (I have 3 years experience in IT, 1 in IT Procurement, now a PM). She said the highest they would likely be able to go is $85k, but she would have to speak with the hiring managers.

I still think $85 is too low for the role. What do you think is a fair salary?

I work on a small 4 person remote team- 2 peers and our manager. My 2 peers were recently hired and started in February this year. I actually trained them since I have held that position (Manager). I have been at the company for 6 years and moved to a Sr. IC role. My skip-level was previously my direct manager. My manager told us about a plan to meet up in person this summer for team building. It slipped in a meeting today that everyone but me is included in going. More in comments.

Lately I’ve been feeling like all my friends and family around me have such great careers and are very successful and I’m behind. I would like some help trying to figure out what my next career move should be. I know I’m capable, I just don’t know what I should be looking for in my next opportunity, or what (strategically) I need to do to work my way up the ladder. Any resources or suggestions of who I could hire to help me figure things out?

Hi guys! I could use some help here, feeling a little discouraged. I started working for EY through a contractor and im hoping to move to EY to a different line that I could expand my current skillset. Although I don't hold a degree, I recently completed a certificate with Google in Project Management. I was hoping to move to something in Communications, EA or even Advisory but I haven't had any luck. and advice? Also looking into the EY Employee Referral scheme? or would that even be worth it?
