MBA. Will have better opps. post grad school. I did MS IS and can’t seem to get into good strategy roles

Prior to my MBA I did an MS and would sell it back if I could. MBA opens more doors in the business world. You can learn whatever technical stuff you want on the side and don’t need a degree for it.

Look into what the recruiting is like for each. Part time MBA has about the same access to resources as full time, I have no idea what the MSIS gets, I went to Kellogg full time and haven’t heard anything about that program, I don’t think it’s well integrated with the business school if that’s what you’re looking for.

MBA by a million miles

Kellogg Part Time MBA is a total blast and you have access to the same recruiting as full time, though it does take a lot more effort due to that pesky job. No clue about the MSIS.

Wait.... Kellogg part time MBA has same access to full time... Are they also weighed the same by recruiters as full time MBA? Same pay etc? No caps on number of part time that would be hired? If not, why would anyone do a full time if they have the same recruiting opportunities and paying less tuition?

A) they aren't paying less tuition. It's literally the same classes and professors, sometimes with FT and PT in the same sessions. B) people sometimes prefer PT to keep getting work experience and a salary to pay for school while attending it; others prefer the fully emersive cohort experience only FT provides (takes 2.5-4 yrs PT because you don't have as much time during the day). So it's a personal trade-off. Admissions criteria etc is also the same so there's no reason for employers to limit PT recruits. In practice, that does still happen though because so much of recruiting is about face time with recruiters and a lot of those coffee chats and lunches are during work hours. PT must have highly flexible work teams during recruiting, or don't care if they get fired because they're jumping anyway.

Interesting. How does kellogg pt mba compare to Booth’s one? (Campus recruiting, professor, etc.)

Admissions standards for part time vs full time MBAs are definitely not the same, just look at the avg GMAT scores of the different classes. I’ve never worked in admissions or anything, so I’m not an expert, but they publish all the stats for each class every year so it’s not too hard to figure out.

Also part time does not get the same access to on campus recruiting as full time - there are fewer interview slots, interviews cost more points, etc.

SA1: average GMAT scores do differ somewhat but it's not a huge difference. The other criteria is the same. And it's been a few years since I went through recruiting but the recruiting slot bidding worked the same way for FT and PT.
