Question regarding parental leave:
I advocated for years to get 10 weeks paid parental leave for our EEs, which we finally initiated Jan. 1. Wouldn’t you know it…the first person who took leave came back part-time for a couple of weeks and then resigned. For those of you who manage paid leave policies, what measures have you implemented to prevent or deter this type of behavior? Any advice or recommendations?

I don't think there is much you can do. It's not about someone gaming the system, it's about changing priorities once they have a child. They most likely intended to continue working but changed when they had their child. The fact that they even tried aprt time shows me a good faith effort

Thanks for weighing in - as a working parent, I certainly understand. Tough situation.

I'm not sure there's really much you can do to prevent this from happening. It happens with unpaid leave as well. People's priorities just tend to shift when they have a baby and that often involves making career changes. I think it's just par for the course, sadly.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?
