Question to people who travel often for work. What do you do if your flight gets cancelled on the day you were suppose to fly back?

If it’s weather related call Amex Travel; if it’s airline related, call to complain, get my points, get them to get me a hotel and meals voucher, depending on how outrageous maybe ask for a complimentary upgrade on the next flight, go to the hotel, eat, order a nice drink to celebrate my additional points.

like

Get another flight? Get a hotel that night if I can't. Depending on where I am, sometimes I can get to a different airport near me and then drive the difference. Might be more travel time, but sometimes it's worth it to be with family a few hours earlier.

like

I sleep at the airport and get on the next earliest flight

likefunny

I just got more sleep if I stayed at the airport lol.

Call Amex. They will get you hotel/alternative travel accommodations. That’s if you can’t make other flight arrangements with/without rental car at the airport if needed. Happened to me several times.

like

Didn’t know this. Good to know. Thank you!

like

Also ask the airline for reimbursement.

Depending on how far from home. Uber or rent a car and drive.

Long story but we has someone flying through Atlanta with a connection that was a 4 hour drive. There are crazy delays. On the second day in the airport waiting for the connection, no connection in sight and no rental cars were available but a group of 4 that didn’t know each other convince the Uber driver to do a 4 hour on-way drive.

More than once coming from Jacksonville or Charlotte to Atlanta we have abandoned the flight delayed due to weather and rented a car

Never deal with the airlines. Always call Amex

Wait, will Amex give you complimentary hotel for weather related cancels? Who’s had that work?! I never knew of this..... granted never have been canceled overnight for weather

I want to stand up but I’ve seen her retaliate on people who have tried to. Help.

Recruiting for a Corporate Strategy role (individual contributor) for a non-profit focused on the Accounting & Finance professions.

Role is fully remote (no travel), incredible WLB (seriously), and comp is $85-$110K (all base, no bonus), depending on experience, which for this role, we are targeting 2-6 years of consulting, strategy, or other similar experience. This should be considered a pre-MBA role.

DM me for additional details if interested. Thank you!

Hi Fishes, I have joined CS on 10th Oct last month. Things are going smooth till now but I want to learn fast as I have completed 1 year after passing CA. My teammates are working from home, feeling uncompatible for learning as they are messed up with their daily task. No 1 is readily available to solving the doubts. My observation limits to my screen appearance. I think limited listening tends to limited learning. Anyone have any idea how to get interact with teammates to faster my learning?

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
