Questions for EY / folks who have left EY. How long do you need you insurance for after you quit? If you put in your notice mid month do you have it just to the end of the month or do you get it for x amount of weeks?

If you're thinking about putting in your notice mid-month, I suggest you make your last day the first business day of the following month. That way you get your insurance for another month.

In the US, it is through the end of the month you quit in.

Through the end of the month that your last day of employment is in is the correct answer in the US but just wanted to add that I believe you have 90 days to sign up for COBRA. So if you have a gap in insurance and get in a car accident that requires hospitalization the month you’re uninsured, you can sign the cobra paperwork/pay for it after the fact and still get coverage.

It depends on when your last day with the firm is. If your last day is September 29th, you will have insurance till the end of the month (September 30). You have the option to purchase Cobra insurance if your new company’s insurance takes a while to kick in.

Thanks everyone!

Insurance is active for the whole month, no matter if your last day is the first if the month or the last day. With that said, you are able to have up to 18 months of very expensive COBRA which can bridge your insurance if your new job doesn't start right away.

Your EY experience (at least for GDS) will be applicable till the last working day.

There is a paralegal (not mine) in my firm that is making everyone miserable. She cries at her desk, complains about being overworked and is rude to the other paralegals, staff, and a couple of the attorneys. She is so disrespectful to me that I recently asked to work from home for a month (I am dealing with some other mental health issues and she is too much). My request was granted, and last Friday I was in the office to make sure several motions were filed properly. Continued in comment:

I’m realizing I have a lot of fear—mostly related to health stuff and death. Feel like people are getting sick left right and center (not talking about covid). I’ve never had anyone close to me become very sick or die—don’t know what I would do if this happened. I’m also overly concerned about my health and seem to be at the doctor every month to get something checked. Can anyone relate or provide suggestions on how to overcome something like this?

What do the requirements for equity partner look like at your firm? How is origination handled (ie once you bring in a client every new matter is your origination whether they called you or someone else at the firm, whether you do the work, and even whether for insurance clients the adjuster assigning to a colleague doesn’t know who you are)? My firm has one female equity partner- who doesn’t have a family. How can I work to change the mold for others to get there?

I’m getting married in 6 months. How can I lose fat in my arms?! I feel like my arms in my stomach are my biggest problem areas. Or at least the ones that make me the most self-conscious. And honestly my stomach isn’t that bad, it’s really just my arms. Any advice would help! I’m 27 with no real health issues other than being overweight, and I’m allergic to fish and nuts if that is helpful. I work out at least twice a week but trying to make it more like 4 for at least for the next three months
